So personally it's 9:30am and always has Been (believe it or not my DD likes it says it makes the excitement last longer)
Personally the entire family stays over on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (Boxing Day we have a party and then everyone goes home) and so my DD and her cousins (aged 13 and 11) are up from 8:30 latest and sit playing games, talking and watching Christmas tv/movies until we open presents.

As for the routine it's like this
9:30 open presents
10:00ish have a fancy breakfast (fry) in pyjamas with Buck's Fizz
11:00 everyone gets ready
Midday first course of dinner (my sisters homemade vegetable soup it's amazing in my opinion)
3:00 main course of dinner usually everyone has several helpings
5:00 desert
6:00 watch a Christmas film
8:00 bed! Just kidding we start playing games like Mario party, Mario kart and other games like that that can go on very late we usually drop like flies until like 1am

Boxing Day we have a tone of family friends over for a party.
And while we are not loaded we are well off making that party possible. So what are your Christmas traditions like I love reading these it gets the big kid in me all excited

Ok so this is our plan - it's our first Christmas without seeing relatives and our first Christmas as a family of five:

  • kids awake around 7
  • open stockings on our bed whilst I feed little one (contemplating having Buck's Fizz ingredients in an ice bucket nearby)
  • play with stocking toys, head downstairs for bagel and favourite stocking presents
  • play with stocking presents, get dressed and head to park if weather good and we think energy needs to be burned
  • FaceTime grandparents
  • lunch at 12:30/1, let's se if kids eat it (4,2)
  • nap if needed for middle child
  • open "big" presents ( which will have remained hidden upstairs to avoid temptation and constant nagging)
  • play with toys/ games
  • 6 pm picnic dinner for kids
  • 8 pm kids asleep
  • picnic dinner for us and a movie!

What do you think ? Still disappointed none of our relatives wanted to visit as we have always visited them!

We wake up sometime between 5 and 8, always hope its on the later end of that spectrum... then dd's drag their stockings into our bed and we all open stockings/sacks from FC.

About 9/10 we'll get out of the bedroom and set about having some sort of breakfast, usually bacon rolls, good coffee, chocolate cereal, croissants and bucks fizz/good orange juice.

This year we have one big 'under the tree' present (i.e. not from FC) to open before we head out to my mums, which is the LOL House, so will spend an hour putting that together too in the morning!

Lunch is usually about 2pm at mum and dads (about 10 minutes drive) so we'll meet Dbro, SIL and Dsis there, and take all the presents from under the tree.

Then after lunch, and the washing up done, we'll dig in to the pressies! So we'll have a couple of people doling them out under the tree and I'm usually in charge of keeping the drink flowing Grin

We get up when we wake up.
Usual cup of tea and toast or cereal.
Potter/do housework
Open presents
Potter/do housework
Lunch happens when it's ready
Wash up and tidy kitchen
Out for a walk if weather nice.
Cup of tea/hot chocolate and whatever cake we have.
Tea time
Quiet evening.
Bed.

Pretty much a normal kind of day except for different food and presents.

This year will be the first Xmas day that I don't see any of my side of the family, so will be a whole new routine. (DM died last year, have no immediate family & having lunch with DH's family) we also have no kids
Based on past Xmas mornings:

6am - wake up, make cups of tea, put on tree lights and fire & start present opening

7:30am - glass of Buck's Fizz, shower and leisurely get ready

12pm - drive round to BIL & SIL where we are having lunch

2.30pm - go home while nephew's and niece chill after their busy morning

4pm - back round to BIL & SIL to do presents with the kids & have a few drinks

6pm - back home for a cosy Xmas night in

10ish - everyone opens presents, open bucks fizz / play with toys
12ish - go over to BIL's for Christmas dinner, probably muck about their for a few hours - play games, go for a walk, play with toys etc
4pm - go home, chill for a bit - probably watch a film
6pm - go visit DH extended family (cousins etc)
8pm - home and kids in bed and we might watch a film or something
10pm - BED
