Toy soldiers that aren’t soldiers??

Hi, I’d like to buy my son (6) some small toy figures he can line up, organise, play imaginatively with etc. but I don’t want figures with guns as I don’t allow my kids to play with guns. Any ideas? TIA

We have s wooden fort (by LeToy) and an army of medieval knights from Wilko. They have crossbows and swords etc. Is that allowed?

Some are on horseback some are not and lots of different colours so he can have different armies.
