Wobble. Domino rally, plastic or wooden?

DS,8 sets up ‘dominoes’ with our Jenga so I thought he’d love a proper domino rally set. Reviews suggest wooden is better as they don’t fall over in a breath of wind.
However, just unpacking it from its Amazon box and i think DS will think it’s babyish. The packaging and the actual painted bricks seem quite young.

Anyone got any experience of domino rally???

I don’t want to give him something he hates because it’s ‘not cool’ (he’s more sensitive to this than my other two) or something that doesn’t work very well? It’s £30 and one of three similar sized presents that make up god ‘big presents’.

My Ds was domino mad. I think the domino rally ones are good for chain reaction tricks but they are fidddly to set the dominos up and fall over easily. I ended up buying some dominos that were produced especially for building domino towers. I brought them from a lady in Germany whose son was a domino builder and she just happened to have a plastics factory so she made them for him and they are great for building with. Her name is Maria Lamping. She will post worldwide and they come in different colours.

I understand your concern, you want it to be perfect. Can you post link on here? Would there be time to get anything more grown up or similar?

This certainly seems more grown up but may not be quality you are looking for ?

Thanks for listening, couldn’t work out the right thing to do, but actually writing it helped!
It was a £35 set. We’re going to send it back, get a £15 set with retro and less babyish packaging, just dominoes and a slope, but I think that’s fine. We’ve spent the difference on a football shirt that he’s been after.

All sorted!
