Hi,

Whilst I got some great ideas from a previous thread, I'm still struggling for one last thing for my wife. I'm thinking Jewellery? The problem is that over the years I've bought most of the usual things - Links bracelet, Tiffany necklace, silver bangles.

What could I buy her that's going to be appreciated and outside the normal stuff? She's 41 and I'm looking to spend somewhere around £200 - £300.

What are your favourite pieces of jewellery at the moment?

Yours in increasing panic

Carl

Re: Dyson hairdryer, what are those tongs that curl hair beautifully. I would like those but have no idea which are the creme de la creme.

Tryingtogetitright · 17/12/2018 16:21

Not sure how much it is but my boss has bought his wife a personal perfume session - you go for a consultation and test different smells and design a perfume unique to you? Something a bit different?

madmum5811 · 17/12/2018 16:22

Well if she has the barbour and wellies a day out clay shooting perhaps.

tissuesosoft · 17/12/2018 16:22

What kind of bags does she use? Maybe a Coach or Michael Kors bag

This one's a bit of a wildcard Grin how about an inflatable jacuzzi? You can get some really nice ones from B&Q etc

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 16:29

I actually bought her a Coach handbag last year. She’d probably like the jacuzzi, but we’re likely to move next year and might build a permanent one. That Farifax and Favor stuff looks good. Don’t know if I can stomach the £450 boots though. Not sure about the Alex Monroe stuff either. Does a woman actually want a bumblebee dangling around her neck?

Please don't call us girls, we're not children and it's patronising, thanks.

Depends on her style, but I love the jewellery from www.hairygrowler.com

I'm aware it sounds like a bad porn website, but I pŕomise it isn't!!! It's recycled silver spoons and coins carved and cut into beautiful and a little quirky jewellery!

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 16:35

You could get a Louis Vuitton purses, they can print her initials on the inside for free which makes it a bit more personal. This one is £315 but if she usually has a smaller purse those are cheaper

Bee jewellery is super popular, but I much prefer Libby Jane to Alex Munroe.

She's my favourite independent jeweller, and everyone I've gifted her stuff to has loved it. If you're looking for the more luxurious stuff then she does solid gold bees. This is my favourite. Website says you can still get delivery in time for Xmas.

Didiusfalco · 17/12/2018 16:41

I think the Alex Monroe stuff is a bit old hat. How about something cashmere? Brora is around your budget or for slightly less, pure collection.

MsSquiz · 17/12/2018 16:44

My favourite piece from Tiffany are my simple pearl stud earrings - nothing too flashy or in your face

What about a Mulberry purse?

Tryingtogetitright · 17/12/2018 16:46

A personalised Longchamps Les Pliage?

MrsRubyMonday · 17/12/2018 17:04

A few years ago I asked for a Cambridge Satchel Company bag from my parents. It's become my everyday work bag, mine is the 15 inch in a bright yellow and gets so many compliments. I love the red one they have at the moment.

CarrotVan · 17/12/2018 17:39

How about something from Sands and Hall? They have lovely elegant tweed outerwear

Luckingfovely · 17/12/2018 17:49

Helicopter flight?
Flying lesson?

Bespoke perfume idea is the best idea on this thread so far! I think.

CarrotVan · 17/12/2018 17:52

Or a painting (try Art Finder)

Luckingfovely · 17/12/2018 17:55

Or how about new designer sunglasses - we never seem to think of them in winter.

Bearbehind · 17/12/2018 18:35

What an odd thread. So the OP moans because the first post isn’t specific enough then calls everyone ‘girls’.

Jewellery is extremely personal - I’d struggle to choose for anyone but myself with any confidence.

Buy something flashy (as it appears that’s the aim here) and keep the receipt.

purplecorkheart · 17/12/2018 18:38

I love Alan Ardiff Jewellery

QueenOfIce · 17/12/2018 18:47

Get her the Louis Vuitton Marine Rouge Empreinte pouch £280 can be used as a wallet and your keys attach to it. The leather is superb and lasts a long time without needing to baby it.

Also please don't call us girls it's so patronising especially when you're asking us to do the leg work!

Link for LV

If it's unavailable online call the stores and they'll post one out.

Good Luck!

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 20:39

Thanks for the help. I’ve seen a few possibilities here but nothing that’s really cracked it. Gucci, Louis Vuitton etc is a bit much for her. She’d probably think I got it from AliExpress anyway.

Sorry for the girls thing...I’m clearly a chauvinist.

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/12/2018 20:49

Sorry for the girls thing...I’m clearly a chauvinist.

And not just a chauvinist. At no point have you mentioned what your wife actually likes. Do you care about that or is the goal just to buy some flashy (over-priced) label so you can tick the 'bought you a gift' box?

If you're serious about buying something she would genuinely like, maybe you can give some feedback on her actual tastes and what she likes and doesn't like.

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 20:52

Well that escalated.

What does she like? Dog walking, the great outdoors and Scandinavia. She also has a perchant for smelly oils with sticks in them.

OP posts:
madmum5811 · 17/12/2018 21:05

Dog walking. I love my drizabone coat perfect for keeping the rain off and the matching hat.

I also love Ryedale boots.

Or you could go mad and get a pair of boots like the ones The Duchess of Cambridge has had for years.
