Jewellery advice

Hi,

Whilst I got some great ideas from a previous thread, I'm still struggling for one last thing for my wife. I'm thinking Jewellery? The problem is that over the years I've bought most of the usual things - Links bracelet, Tiffany necklace, silver bangles.

What could I buy her that's going to be appreciated and outside the normal stuff? She's 41 and I'm looking to spend somewhere around £200 - £300.

What are your favourite pieces of jewellery at the moment?

Yours in increasing panic

Carl

Does she have a watch? Or perhaps some nice earrings she can wear every day

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 12:55

These are not the specifics I need!

I was going to suggest Not on the high street but you may struggle for delivery. If you know she likes Tiffany you surely can’t go wrong by popping on their site and getting some nice little earrings or whatever takes your fancy that’s within your budget.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/12/2018 13:59

I've got a necklace with a pendant for each of my three children. They are nesting circles and each one has a child's name on. However, I think that would be way under your budget.

What about a weekend away? Or just one night but a really luxurious one.

strawberrypenguin · 17/12/2018 14:01

A Tanzanite ring? Something like this maybe here

Or a nice locket like this one

TranmereRover · 17/12/2018 14:03

Alex Munro necklaces
Monica Vinader (the diamond encrusted pendants)
Dinny Hall

All have excellent stuff well within budget.

sar302 · 17/12/2018 14:07

My husband is buying me a tennis bracelet from Swarovski. A lot of their jewellery is a bit colourful for me! But if you look closer, they have some beautiful and more subtle pieces

bellinibobble · 17/12/2018 14:36

What Tiffany stuff have you bought her in the past? Maybe the matching earrings, bracelet for the necklace she already has?

ChristmasSeacow · 17/12/2018 14:40

It really depends on her style (whether she likes sparkle, or classic jewellery, or stuff which is a bit more unique /artisan)

For fairly classic but modern I second Alex Monroe (JL sells some stuff like the lovely classic bee necklace but there is a bigger range from the website)

For some beautiful and more unusual rings I really love this Orkney designer:

www.alisonmoore.co.uk

Sheila Fleet also does some lovely enamelled jewellery if she might like that? You might just about get delivery on time

PennytotheD · 17/12/2018 14:45

Would second Alex Monore or Monica Vinader - both in your price range and are beautiful quality, with elegant but still 'on-trend' designs.

Jammiebammie · 17/12/2018 14:55

Monica Vinader do beautiful pieces, and always presented so well. They’re stacking rings are my favourites.
Misoma do lovely jewellery too, really nice necklaces that you can layer.

Jammiebammie · 17/12/2018 14:56

*their, bloody autocorrect

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 15:04

Hmmm I already bought her some earrings from Wolf and Badger. I find necklaces etc pretty different. Some of this stuff looks quite nice, but I'm not sure.

Come on girls, £200ish - what would you like for Christmas. Doesn't have to be jewels.

Personally I'd love something from Shaun Leane - super cool British designer, and a bit different.

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 15:25

So are you open to non-jewellery gifts?

shash1982 · 17/12/2018 15:28

If it doesn’t have to be jewels & you can stretch your budget I’d say a weekend away just the two of you.

Bruges is lovely or even a cottage with a hot tub on the patio in the Lake District nestled in the mountains.

(Now just to convince my dh that’s what he should do for me!)

pickels14 · 17/12/2018 15:30

How about an Apple Watch or Fitbit? I love mine and it's outside the 'jewellery' box.. pretty sure you can get one for about £300?
It's the most practical gift I've ever had and wouldn't be without it

madmum5811 · 17/12/2018 15:32

I want wireless ear buds so I can listen to netflix in bed on my tablet without disturbing OH. Last year I wanted a smart tv and a sound bar. I have so much jewellery really do not need any more. I have had some lovely watches in the past. The evening type one is rather nice more like a bracelet.

Vicliz24 · 17/12/2018 15:48

An Armani watch . Classic and great quality

Carleatspeas · 17/12/2018 16:09

So, in the past I have bought her:

Tiffany necklaces
Links of London bracelets
Agile Wellies
Barbour Jacket
LK Bennett shoes
Weekends away all over the place
Apple watch
Other watches

Who knows what else. It’s a tour de force of aspirational middle class Christmas gifts. I draw the line at the Dyson hairdryer.

I would book a night in a seriously nice 5* country house hotel with a spa. My DH did this for our anniversary and it was wonderful.

Lazybonita · 17/12/2018 16:15

Looking at your list...you could have a look at Fairfax and favour for gorgeous country boots or a handbag.

Bombardier25966 · 17/12/2018 16:17

It’s a tour de force of aspirational middle class Christmas gifts.

It's a big old cliché. Look for an independent jeweller, something different to what every other person has.

GCAcademic · 17/12/2018 16:18

In that price bracket, I’d also suggest Alex Monroe.
