I remember reading on a thread about this game but now I can't remember the rules or what thread it was on... can anyone help?
There's like a bag of cheap presents (random stuff) and a dice and you take turns rolling the dice and... something?
I think a number gets a present and another gives it to someone else or something?

... can anyone help me. Wanted to try it this Christmas...

Is it the sock game? It featured on Phillip Schofields Xmas show a few weeks back.

Ooooh I dunno if it had anything to do with socks...
May have done though... not being very helpful am I? 😬😬

It's bad Santa!!
It's the best game ever. Put all the presents on the table. Take turns rolling a dice. If you get a 6 you take a gift, unwrap it and put it in front of you. If you score a 1 you get to steal someone unwrapped present!!
It causes a near root every year in our house, usually over the toblerone Smile

Riot not root Hmm

MessyMummy15 · 15/12/2018 20:44

That's the one!!!
Thank you!! I'm so excited to try it!! So do the other numbers mean nothing then? Like skip a go?
And roughly how many presents do you wrap? There will be five adults for me...
and a 4 year old but not sure if he will play...

Also we are quite varied ages and mixed genders... what kinda things do you buy?

I like the sound of this, are there more rules?

MessyMummy15 · 15/12/2018 22:16

I think that's about it...

Put all presents on table
Take turns rolling dice. If you roll a 6 you pick one from the Center unwrap and put it in front of you.
If you roll a 1 then you can "steal" someone else gift
I suppose you can add other rules to suit you. I might make rolling a 3 a "swap"

Guess the comedy value comes when granddad has the nail polish and the teen girl wants to swap her toilet paper for it. 😂😂

Thank you. Just us and two young adults this year and I think this would be a fun game. Well, it'll go one of two ways haha but worth a try

Deminism · 16/12/2018 00:35

is this not the white elephant game that americans play?

QueenOnAPlate · 16/12/2018 08:58

It’s a great game with teenagers. I make sure I have 1 gift that each person would love and several that no one wants. Pot noodles and cans of pop work well here as I don’t generally buy them and our teens love them. Home bargains is great for getting stuff for it.

DrWhy · 16/12/2018 09:02

This is a daft question but when does the game end? When everything is unwrapped or just when you decide it’s over?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 16/12/2018 17:24

Just had a mad half hour in B&M bargains buying stuff for this!
I think you probably make your own rules up re when it's ended. I'm thinking once the last present has been won, maybe one more round to see if there are any more steals? I was also wondering about a 6 to pick a present, but can't open til you get a 3. Then if someone gets a 1 to steal they have to decide whether to gamble on stealing a wrapped present or one they can see? Or will that take too long/be too complicated?
