Waitrose

Pannetone cakes
Christmas crackers

The Yule Log in Asda has always been gorgeous and it’s only £3.50.

I saw that they are also selling Christmas tree shaped breaded chicken in there too which I thought would be cute for children.

Sainsbury's Salted caramel pretzels
Sainsbury's mince pie ice cream

Oh Clementine juice yes . Nicer , tangier than just orange .

I was shopping today , mainly pantry stuff.
I was hovering my hand over Sainsburys TTD custard. "Well I always make a trifle...." But we never eat the trifle ......
I will get some nearer the time and a Christmas Pudding for DH and I (mainly because I have a Slow Cooker now Xmas Grin )

I bought Paxo S&O stuffing and chestnuts (to go with the sprouts)

There's all the flavoured creams now - any to recommend?

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 09/12/2018 22:14

I have no recommendations but I’ve just come on to boast to all you Southerners that we are getting our Christmas shop at BOOTHS for the first time this year 🤪.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/12/2018 22:25

Glares at Six and chases her off to the Booths Thread that will no doubt emerge .

I'm in Essex and nowhere near a Booths . Only ever get to hear about it on these threads . I don't think they'd even send me a book .

gaggiagirl · 09/12/2018 22:25

Aldi
Black forest mince pies.
Lidl
Deluxe hot chocolate

AdaColeman · 09/12/2018 22:29

SixToEight We are all green with envy! Xmas Grin

rslsys · 09/12/2018 22:32

M&S Salted mixed nuts.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2018 22:35

I pop to Booths quite often as I have two within 10-15 minutes. It's lovely!

My essentials are;

All the cheese; and
Many crackers!

PickAChew · 09/12/2018 22:41

Morrisons all butter mince pies. Proper non greasy melt in the mouth pastry.

PickAChew · 09/12/2018 22:44

Missed out on a diversion to booths, last week, as the weather was disgusting. We only get down there once every year or so.

stoplickingthetelly · 10/12/2018 13:02

Asda's yule log is fantastic. Really chocolatey.

anxious62 · 10/12/2018 13:04

Marks and Spencer clementines in the plastic bowl are gorgeous.

Also marks and Spencer in a little gold box are chocolate truffles. Amazing.

caesio · 10/12/2018 13:15

Tesco Finest Belgian Chocolate Nut Tray

slappinthebass · 10/12/2018 13:34

Lidl foil wrapped chocolates in Santa/Angel/Teddy shapes, and large foil wrapped chocolate Santa's. Perfect for children's stockings. Aldi always seem to do very similar too.
Lidl: cans of Duff beer. Stocking filler for a Simpsons fan?
Marzipan logs,
Chocolate jazzies 59p a bag and were accidentally vegan/dairy free in other years.
Baklava
Parsnip crisps
Blue Stilton crisps
Maple and honey mixed nuts
Gingerbread gin
Metre long Chorizo
Frozen macarons
Mince pie ice cream
Chocolate star shaped lebkuchen
Jamaican run stollen bites
Chocolate coated pineapple
Christmas marshmallow lollies (great for stockings)

DaftCat · 10/12/2018 13:48

Having done extensive research this year (bought a box from everywhere I could think of). I reckon that the best mince pies are the M&S ones in the gold box. Morrison’s all butter ones are very very similar though and a lot cheaper.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 10/12/2018 20:33

Co Op are doing Christmas Spiced Salted Caramel Pretzel stars that are delicious.

livingthegoodlife · 10/12/2018 20:55

Agree with daftcat that the m&s pies seem to be the best this year. I've tried quite a few....

ChristmasDaydreams · 10/12/2018 21:13

My favourite mince pies are from Greggs! Never used to like minceys until I had a Greggs one, beautiful! Xmas Grin

ritzbiscuits · 11/12/2018 22:51

Is the Asda Yule Log the Extra Special one? First time buying one for DS who doesn't like Xmas pud!

ChristmasDaydreams · 14/12/2018 13:17

I’m hoping the extra special one as I’ve just bought one for a party this weekend :)

Thesearmsofmine · 14/12/2018 14:04

Yes this Yule Log groceries.asda.com/product/swiss-roll-sponge-cakes/asda-extra-special-luxury-yule-log/1000071585265

I have had to put off buying one because last year we went through several before Christmas.
