Child has asked Santa for a cup of tea - how can I sort this?!

Just that - my 3 year old has written to father Christmas (well, not written it herself!!) asking for a cup of tea (and a unicorn...). Any ideas what I can get her? She has a plastic tea set already.

I agree a lovely teacup and saucer (you can pick up lovely old single ones in charity shops or melamine mug with a little tea in it. You can make it up in a thermos and pour it discretely when she's got up. It won't matter if she saw it empty, you can distract her, fill it and voila magic tea from santa now she's awake.

Might be lovely Christmas tradition!

Buy her a cup, pop a tea bag in it and a little pot of long life milk.

This is easy if you are a 2 parent household. Snuggles in bed with one parent while the other pours the tea in the living room. Bit harder if you are on your own, but the thermos thing will work. Mine weren't allowed tea at that age but a weak cuppa at Christmas wouldn't harm.

You can buy tiny uht cartons like you get on the train, which don't need to be refrigerated. 60p for a pack of about 8 I think.

Fruit tea?

Sass and belle do a unicorn teaset in a little suitcase for £16 - I bet she would LOVE it.

Ps you could move the plastic tea set to the bath as a bath toy if you got a new set

Nitpickpicnic · 08/12/2018 11:20

Maybe a herbal tea, hey? The last thing a 3yo (or her parents) need on Xmas day is a caffeinated child. Grin

abbsisspartacus · 08/12/2018 11:23

You can get decaf tea my son used to go mad demanding coffee I would give him decaf 🤷‍♀️

Talith · 08/12/2018 11:25

I used to enjoy a beaker of tea whilst I sat on my potty each morning, from two at least.

I couldn't get too worried about a three year old having an eggcup full of tea with milk in anyway.

Fruit tea is a travesty and will put her off proper tea for life! Grin

TheQueef · 08/12/2018 11:26

My DC had a tup of tea on the potty Grin

Maybe as 'Do you think father christmas will know what you mean, do you mean a normal cup of tea? will you drink it or is it for mummy?'' Otherwise a lovely milky cup of dilute tea in a christmas cup with biscuits on christmas morning sounds like a good idea.

Lisabel · 08/12/2018 11:31

**maybe ask, not maybe as

Ceecee18 · 08/12/2018 11:47

I'd go with decaf tea. Get her a little mug of her own and some decaf teabags wrapped up. So santa had left her the things to make her own cup of tea.

Or get a bit earlier than she does and make her a cup of tea and wrap the rest of the teabags

toothfairy73 · 08/12/2018 11:56

Santa doesn't do livestock. Last year he brought a magical unicorn instead

Deadringer · 08/12/2018 12:02

Does she have a Christmas mug? Maybe you could get one with santa on it, and as a pp said put a teabag in it.

incallthebloodytime · 08/12/2018 12:39

Or a voucher for costa or similar to go and have a cup of tea or babyccino and perhaps a reusable cup for filling?

Or buy a milk frother (some little handheld ones) ingredients and cute teacup and biscuits 🍪

Pinkclarko · 08/12/2018 13:01

A cup of rooibos tea with loads of milk, not hot. Did that for my toddler, she got bored of asking for it eventually.

Alanamackree · 08/12/2018 13:05

Are you sure it’s a cup of tea she means and not one something like the Beauty and the Beast “chip” cups that seem to be everywhere?

TootinBarbs · 08/12/2018 13:07

New look have unicorn tea cups. And matching plates too.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 08/12/2018 13:34

Ohhhh I know I know!! How’s about starting your own Christmas tradition of a Christmas morning cream tea! A new Christmas mug for your DD (and maybe for you and any other members of the household too), a tiered cake stand, scones, macarons and some mini pastries.

Maybe even some mini sandwiches? Cucumber, smoked salmon.

One weak cup of tea (or decaf) would be fine for your DD, I think.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 08/12/2018 13:36

That’s was the iPad that decided to make it ‘how’s about’... Hmm

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 08/12/2018 13:38

Oh ffs I give up with this obnoxious autocorrect!!

Catanddogmake6 · 08/12/2018 14:25

If you look on eBay you can get personalised melamine mugs like this. Love the flask idea but with a lovely mug and some biscuits she has something to keep if it turns out she doesn’t like tea. You can always use it for something else.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 08/12/2018 14:54

If you own/can get a cheap thermos bottle then a premade milky tea beside a cup like this could be very sweet.

Alternatively, George also stock this pretty tea for one pot which isn't too fragile.

(There was a beautiful wooden tea set with tea bags there last month too but it has sadly vanished.)
