Hi, I’m looking for a niace christmas jumper. Something that’s not bad taste, maybe fairisle all over. Will last for years so good quality. A functioning jumper too!.... Warm!

Any recommendations?! Thanks Grin

Have a look in Fat Face - they usually have lovely ones. I grabbed one in the sales last year that's got a fairly high wool content. I've also got a really nice, chunky snowflake-fair isle jumper from the men's dept of Sainsbury a couple of years back which I love - Sainsbury is not a bad place to look too.

If your definition of 'Christmas jumper' includes fair isle but not gimmicky festive fair isle (i.e. a time-honoured style of knitting that has latterly become associated just with one month of the year and cheap acrylic disposable garments... Grin) then look in Seasalt - they have a couple of lovely all-wool fair isle ones there. I fully intend to wear mine whenever it's cold, and not just this month. Remember kids, fair isle is for Life, not just for Christmas. Grin

(sorry, frustrated knitter here who is fed up with certain types of knitting being associated with Christmas jumpers.)

I was also going to suggest fat face

A charity shop. How often will you actually wear it?

OnTrain · 06/12/2018 07:00

Thanks glom I too am a knitter bit nowhere near good enough to knit fairisle!
Yes, I’m no good with ‘out there’ clothes. I won’t even wear any trouser shade other than dark and hate bright colours.

felix I’ve had a look in a couple charity shops but can’t find one I like. I intend to wear it for the next 15-20 christmases. I’m still on the same coat I bought 12yrs ago. I’m not a throw away, buy for the sake of it person.

I’ll have a look in fatface, thanks.

Also looking on ebay. Are there any brands to search for? Besides what’s already mentioned?

eBay! Mine this years from next, which I paid £2.99 + £1.99 p&p it’s lovely and warm. It had only been worn once!

Fat face is good and Sainsbury’s had some nice ones in.

I was going to say Fat face. They have some lovely stuff in there and it's lasts for so long.

Toast often do good fairisle jumpers

You could search for Brora second hand. Probably still quite expensive...
