How the fook do I get the star to sit up properly!?

Every bloody year I have a drunken star on the top of my tree & faff with it endlessly. I've given up and taken it down already (star, not twinkly decorated by dd2 tree!).

Tell me how to make it stand up properly,please!!

(Then come and put the rest of the decs up for me...the boxes are staring at me but I haven't had time yet )

Is it a plastic tree? I folded the point in half and the star now sits nicely.

Hmm, I don't think I have any of those. Wonder if my friend might, I'll ask in the morning. I do have loads of cable tie thingys somewhere in the shed though, I could go for a rummage in there.

I've tried that Teaches, it's still wonky. Maybe it needs another branch using since the tree's as old as dd2. Maybe it's not as thick as it used to be to hold it up (clearly I have given this too much thought over the past couple of days )

Could you use a wire coat hanger to stiffen the top of the tree?

Couple of pipe cleaners wrapped around the stalk to make it more stable??

Or a lolly stick ??

Nat and Invisible I have all of those about the place, I'll have to try them after dropping dd2 off at school in the morning before work.

I've given up and put a little Santa hat on the top instead, have had lots of compliments!

Take the fucking thing down and lay it on the kitchen table. Get a rolling pin and smack seven sorts of shit out of the bugger.
It'll be even wonkier but - oh - the stress relief.

Cable tie it to the tree.

I use a green garden cane to support the star on top of the tree. Just slide the cane down the middle of the tree and put the other end into the star.

Bamboo cable tied to tree.

DH put a chopstick in the top of the tree, the star is nice and straight. In previous years he’s used a wooden spoon.

I'm off to take dd2 to school then coming back to try and fix my star with the first straight thing I find!
