What would you choose - 12 year old girl

I have got all dd's little presents but struggling to get her main present as there are four on her list and I just cant choose which (she wont get the rest, my mum is getting her a music course and we have no other family).

So thoughts please on,
Nintendo 2ds/3ds (would be used the most but will probably just take over from playing on her phone),

electric scooter (she asked for this last year too, I know she really wants it, I just don't think it will be used much)

Lego Harry Potter Great hall, (one time use as it will go on display, but will take a lot of building and she is really harry potter obsessed)

lego creator 16+ (as above really, but will be something nice for us to do together)

Thanks

Does she already have a non electric scooter? If so that would make this less appealing as it’s def a bit of a fad. Depends how much she scoots now I guess and if she has friends who scoot too.

I’d see if I can get some smaller HP Lego she can do if she likes it and then get the DS if you know it will be used.
There will be all sorts being ebayed after Xmas so maybe she can save any money she gets and also await birthday and get the other stuff second hand.

Toomanybaubles · 05/12/2018 13:38

I would go for the HP Lego from that list if she is HP obsessed.

I have bought some for a 12 year old girl, other presents are a Kobo reader that you can read library books and school textbooks on (and read in the bath). A bracelet and something to wear. A few books.

I have made my own advent calendar this year - a sack with 24 gifts in it. It is very well received it means I wonder do much in the way of a stocking.

LittleMissYorkshireLass · 05/12/2018 13:39

I would say the Lego, the creator kit sounds good!

woolleybear · 05/12/2018 13:43

Yes, she has a non electric scooter which hardly gets used. She wont go out alone with it so its only used on the occasional time when I can walk with her somewhere.

Thanks for your thoughts, narrowing down to hp lego or ds now.

I would go for hp lego. Dd has a 3ds and hardly touched it.

Lthom90 · 05/12/2018 16:52

I am struggling to purchase for my SD 13

So far has ... from her dad and I
£100 in gift vouchers
2 pandora charms
1 pair of pandora ear rings
2 bottles of VS sprays
Bottle of purfume
Box from lush
New PJs
Eyeshadows
Makeup brushes
Chocolates

Any other ideas??? Smile

Lthom90 · 05/12/2018 16:55

DSD!!! Not SD

beachyhead · 05/12/2018 17:14

Think she's done ok already Confused

Brimstonenotfire · 05/12/2018 18:37

Lthom90 you really don’t think all that and £100 is enough?

Lovemusic33 · 05/12/2018 19:21

I would probably chose the Lego but if it’s not something she’s going to get much use out of then it’s probably not the sensible option. Dd1 has a 3ds and uses it a lot, this year she has asked for the Nintendo switch whilst her sister has asked for Lego (which she will build once).

woolleybear · 06/12/2018 06:15

Thanks all for the help,

I think you have enough Lthom!

Lego and she can sell it on in a few years!

JamAtkins · 06/12/2018 08:30

I would go for Harry Potter Lego. She can already play games on her phone and already has a scooter. If she gets a ds then she probably won’t use it much without also buying a few games. I think the Lego will give her a lot of pleasure for a long time, and as she loves HP then it is more exciting than Lego creator.

Imustbemad00 · 06/12/2018 09:23

@Lthom90 mine has similar. Not the gift vouchers but will probably get some costa/iPhone/phone credit cards for stocking. Have pandora charms but no earrings, was looking at rings though.
Also have Nike hoodie, iPhone 5, some Disney vtwosted tales books, saffy b(?) water bottle, hotel chocolate hot chocolate.
Still on the list is make up, handbag, hairdryer, phone case. Will probably get a couple of those.
My parents got the ugg Boots which was a big help.

Struggling with my youngest thosnyear which is unusual. It’s usually the other way around.

LucheroTena · 06/12/2018 09:48

I would ask her the order of preference and go by that.

slappinthebass · 06/12/2018 09:55

Bit rude @Lthom90 ! OP made a post to hell decide one main present as presumably can't afford more than one and you gatecrash the post with a very expensive list of presents and say you as struggling for more ideas Hmm. Who does that?

OP, what games would she like for DS? I think they will bring less games out on it now, now the Switch is a couple of years old. Have you looked around for a second hand switch bundle? You can often get a bargain.

I think the HP Lego is the best bet.

PaulMorel · 06/12/2018 10:40

I go for Electric Scooter Grin

gigglingHyena · 06/12/2018 10:57

I had my doubts that a DS would get used much now that dd has a phone but while she does play odd games on her phone the ones she really likes are the longer more involved ones on her DS.

Lots of nearly new ones out there and bargains to be had. FWIW the lego harry potter games are quite good according to both mine.

Much as mine would love a big harry potter lego set to build, I know it would then want to stay out on display in space we don't have. I can't justify the cost for a few hours of fun building and a lifetime of dusting

Nearlyadoctor · 06/12/2018 11:31

Another one who would go Lego - make the most of still being able to buy a ‘ toy ‘

Nearlyadoctor · 06/12/2018 11:33

@Lthom90 that seems ample - will she also be getting the same again from her mum etc

woolleybear · 06/12/2018 13:33

Thanks, yes, we are struggling a bit this year financially. She wants a surprise on Christmas morning and is well aware that she wont get all the big things she would like.

Her dad is getting her a microphone and a science kit, I've got her some books, a couple of board games and stocking filler type bits.
