When in December do you take your DC to see Father Christmas?

When do you take your children to see Father Christmas? Do you make it closer to the big day? Or earlier?

Christmas fair at school next week. He's written and posted his letter though, so I'm going shopping tomorrow.

2 weeks before once the decorations are up, lists written and sent, presents bought and the relief when they tell santa what they want and it’s already wrapped

I took mine on Sunday, because our family pass to Beamish expires on 7th December. I normally take them the 1st or 2nd weekend in December.

I think mid December is optimum for this. We are going on the 15th this year. Hits a balance between getting too christmassy too early and having a chance at getting an unexpected item they ask for.
