The forecast's not looking good. Will we be miserable?

It's shit. I've done it the last couple of years having always pre planned what day we'd go. Just seem to have been unlucky with the weather.

It's truly miserable when it's raining.

This year, I'm not pre planning our trip. If the weather is decent we'll head down there and I think it'll be so much more enjoyable when the weather is ok.

Oh dear. I've booked the ice rink for DD. I don't know if I can change the booking?

Stay inside the Bavarian Village beer hall?

homeishere · 30/11/2018 23:06

Well it’s overcrowded, overpriced and shit in good weather, so I’d imagine the same but you’ll be wet to boot.

We went years ago, the last time we said "No More"
It was busy , muddy , people with buggys and dogs so picking your way through mud trying not to trip over pram wheels or little paws . No fun.

It is really ££ . Queues were horrendous. I think my DC went on only three rides by the times they queued.

One year we went in a blizzard ! We had prebooked the Wheel, but we could see diddly squat with the snow outside and the condensation inside .
And most of the rides closed for safety .

It would be nice after dark on a cold dry clear night . In the rain, not so much.

This, I'm afraid! I went the first year it opened and it was lovely, but it's been a victim of its own success. I've been a couple more times since and it was awful. Don't they have a circus or something that's under cover? Could you book for that?

ColdCrumpetsAndButter · 30/11/2018 23:58

Personally I would give it a huge swerve.

PhilomenaButterfly · 01/12/2018 07:08

Children unfortunately, I have a 7yo with ADHD, he'd be bored.

The itinerary so far is:

Arrive before opening
Father Christmas
Rides
Ice skating at 12
Lunch
Home

We're going to go tomorrow, as the forecast's better. The main reason was to see Father Christmas anyway. I'd like to get away with Father Christmas and lunch, but you know kids... Anyway, that would leave nothing for DD, she doesn't believe anymore.

We went last year and it was so busy we couldn’t even walk round properly. It was heaving.

The rides all had enormous queues.
The food is vastly overpriced and not as nice as we hoped and the rest of the stalls sell tat

But the circus was ok and the ice skating ran to time although we also got soaked as it was raining to take spare clothes.

DD has a massive panic attack about what would happen if there was a terrorist attack as we were so crammed in to an essentially fenced in area. We didn’t see any police at all except a handful outside the park. She had a a point sadly.
We left at that point.

PhilomenaButterfly · 02/12/2018 20:52

Well, we went today, not forecast to rain, it drizzled all day! Hmm

We got there before it opened, but couldn't find the family entrance, so by the time we found Father Christmas we had to queue for over an hour, DD went off to ice skate, DS2 went on the Yeti Ride twice, we had hot dogs, burgers and hot chocolate for lunch, which we took to eat in the Bavarian Village.

We really enjoyed it, and we all want to go back next year, but I'll save up!
