Ok regardless of what your Christmas plans are, what would you ideal Christmas entail this year?

As little Christmas stuff as possible. Maybe buggering off somewhere sunny until the 28th at least

hugoagogo · 29/11/2018 21:49

I'd like to go to my Grandparents. They have been dead for 20 odd years so impossible.
But beautiful part of the country, lovely walk after lunch, pooh sticks, cucumber sandwiches, would be nice. still not gonna happen. Sad

If money were no object, I'd be on a lovely cruise with my DH and DS. No cooking. No washing up. No PILs dictating the shite TV that we have to watch communally. No having to try to be enthusiastic about yet another thoughtless and often offensive "gift".

A lovely log cabin somewhere snowy, nice real fire, Christmas decorations, loads of lights, just me and my two children

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2018 22:06

Snow- (I bet it'll just rain, dismally)
A massive tree in the hallway( it has to be in the back room)
A log fire (we don't have)
Everyone at ours (not possible due to distance and DMum being less mobile)
More space in the fridge and kitchen worktops

Total control over the TV (ok that's pushing it Xmas Grin )

Log cabin with fireplace under the northern lights, artfully decorated tree (not by me then). Midnight mass on Christmas Eve and then a decadent Christmas Breakfast spread in the morning followed by gift exchange, a light lunch, then carol singing and games and a roast goose with all the trimmings at supper - all cooked by someone else, watching cheesy films until the kids go to bed and then watching grown up comedy shows until grown up bedtime.

With a partner and baby

The Wham video.

I would love one more Xmas with my mam. The last Xmas we had together she was too poorly to enjoy it (terminal cancer) and it was the first time I had cooked Xmas dinner and hosted it at our house.

If it was a perfect Xmas I would somehow manage it to be another with my mam and ideally one where I was a Mam too and she would be a grandma - she wanted nothing more than to have a grandchild. I think this will get to me every Christmas...

A walk up on the Mendips, drop down and wander through Glastonbury and Wells just for the scenery. Then home,a hot soak in a bath followed by a mug of tea and a bit of cake. But as I'm car less till some time next year,it'll have to wait till next christmas.

In a warm sunny land, far far away, where the midwinter retail festival doesn't happen.

comeagainforbigfudge · 29/11/2018 22:24

Wake up, house immaculately clean, but lived in. Not show home clean
Loads of good food
Small thing playing contentedly with new toys
No visitors
No visiting
Stay in jammies all day
Maybe put outer wear on to go for a walk. Especially if there is snow.
Watch xmas movies
Graze constantly
Drink alcohol as i dont need to drive Gin
Id also like a dominos pizza but thats not happening.

Oooh maybe i could do this on boxing day? Grin

Asj0405 · 29/11/2018 22:40

Either Disneyland because I know how happy it would make the kids

Or..

Agreeing with a couple of other posters and beautiful big log cabin covered in twinkly lights inside and snow outside. All family there, massive roast diner lots of games, sledding and snowball fights. Few glasses of wine by the fire once kids are sock on..would be lovely

S0PH1A · 29/11/2018 22:41

I want TimeWounds’ Christmas Day.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 01/12/2018 19:18

MsSquiz Flowers. I could have almost written the same post but for the bit about not having hosted Christmas myself before. My mum had terminal cancer for her last Christmas too. She too would have loved to have been a grandma. A Christmas with her, and my dad, who I’ve also lost since, having fun as grandparents would be lovely. DH and I don’t have children. I’d love to experience Christmas as a mum - something that won’t ever happen for me. Top of the list though would have to be DH enjoying Christmas in full health.

If we’re thinking in the realms of what isn’t 100% impossible then a light dusting of snow, enough to look pretty but not cause problems, would be a good start and I’d love to be super-organised and have done everything that I will no doubt plan to do and fail to do!

AcrossthePond55 · 01/12/2018 21:15

I'd go back in time and have my parents and iLs alive and well (Mum has severe dementia, Dad & iLs are dead) and we'd all celebrate like we used to. It would be snowing like it used to, Mum & MiL would cook like they used to, the world would be kinder like it used to.

To spend one last Christmas with my mom and my grand parents. That would be perfect for me.

HappyHedgehog247 · 02/12/2018 13:35

With my beloved granny and my DC there every year instead of with my abusive ex every other year. My granny LOVED Christmas!
But I’m grateful to have DC and to not be in a house where I’m frightened anymore. A really happy Christmas every other year is better than a miserable one every year.

PenrodPooch · 02/12/2018 14:18

A tent with clear roof under the northern lights, me my children and one more day with my daughters dad and my Nan
