This year DH has booked for us to go away to Portugal for Xmas. We'll be going with his brother + family and his mother/stepdad.
Whilst I'm really excited, we've never been away for Xmas before and I still want to try and keep the magic of Xmas and our traditions.
I have 2 DS (10 & nearly 6)
I've always done things like elf on a shelf/kindness elf, Xmas eve boxes with new pjs and a Xmas book etc, stockings hanging on the bed, lazy morning around the tree opening presents in our pjs....etc
As much I'm gonna love being on holiday, I'm definitely a homebody and Xmas is one of my fave times of the year so I feel a bit out of my comfort zone going away this time. I like it to "feel" like Xmas if that makes any sense?
Anyway...
This year we're gonna have Santa deliver the presents on the 22nd (to open on 23rd) as we're flying at 7am Xmas eve.
My kids are already asking about how Santa is going to deliver the presents if we're not at home, so I'm trying to think of things I can do before we go to not spoil any of the "magic" and also think of things we can still do Xmas eve/Xmas day to make it special for them.
We'll have limited suitcase space but I still want to take some presents that are from "Santa" for them to open on Xmas day.
And maybe get them some new Xmas pjs to wear on holiday too.
And sneak the Xmas elf in the suitcase.
Can anyone think of any other ideas that I could do whilst we're away? Anyone spent Xmas day on holiday before?
