You have landed on a desert island on Christmas Eve (by magic/ freak weather incident or sci-fi explanation take your pick!) , rescuers are coming but not before Boxing Day at least. You will be air dropped a basic food supply and you can have 3 other small items to make things festive:
a savoury food
a sweet food
a drink
What do you pick?

Mine are; cheese; red wine and one of the tins of French stuffed prunes that I've only ever seen at Lakeland but must be available elesewhere.

This is surprisingly tricky! I'd go with

  • pigs in blankets
  • red cabbage in apples (can that be the sweet?)
  • champagne !!
FelicityLemon · 24/11/2018 08:56

You can have the red cabbage but don't you want a pudding? Personally I struggled with the lack of roast potatoes but Christmas without cheese just can't happen. :-)

No pudding required! I'm a savoury person, very meh about desserts.

hazeyjane · 24/11/2018 09:06

a savoury food - cheese and crackers
a sweet food- cheesecake
a drink - prosecco (....but a rocket fuel coffee too, for the 4 am wake up....please)

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/11/2018 09:15

This is a tricky one indeed!
My homemade sausage rolls
Christmas Pudding
Gin

FelicityLemon · 24/11/2018 09:21

Sorry Hazey, it's a forced choice do you wake up early or indulge in the Christmas cheer? Xmas Grin

ILoveMyMonkey · 24/11/2018 09:32

It was easier to choose than I expected...
Pigs in blankets
Chocolate log
Tea

Sorted Grin

Iamblossom · 24/11/2018 09:44

Same as @hazeyjane for savoury, cheese and biscuits - lindor chocolates for sweet - a very good red wine for drink

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/11/2018 09:48

Stilton, Port and Fruitcake.

Christmas wrapped up...

PrivateParkin · 24/11/2018 09:59

This is just too hard OP. But, if I had to choose, I would go with:
Savoury: Roast ham as made by my DM with cloves, spices etc
Sweet: stollen
Drink: green ginger wine

Actual desert island disc: Lonely This Christmas by Mud Grin

BiggerBoat1 · 24/11/2018 10:01

Good game!

It would have to be stuffing
mince pies
champagne

hazeyjane · 24/11/2018 10:06

Ah fuck it, I'll just start drinking prosecco at 4am.....
....maybe my cheesecake could be an espresso one.

GreyGardens88 · 24/11/2018 10:14

I think this would be heaven

I would ask for some nice thick juicy glazed ham then I would feast on fresh crab and lobster that I have retrieved from the ocean,
I would get a bottle of mango and apple juice (for the sweet) and a bottle of rum

FelicityLemon · 24/11/2018 10:18

Yes Grey I think I'd come back from this quite refreshed!
Although maybe not if i had to listed to Lonely This Christmas on repeat! Xmas Smile

Pigs in blankets
Mulled wine
Huge, huge box of chocolates.

TheGirlWhoLived · 24/11/2018 10:54

Interesting question! Drink I'd go for a magnum of prosecco.... it has to last until boxing day y'know!

Then for savoury... A big vat of my dads broccoli cheese, freshly grilled

And for sweet... Dads xmas cake - minus the icing and marzipan, bleary, but it is the MOST delicious fruit cake

MrsPear · 24/11/2018 14:13

Pigs in blankets
Christmas cake
Baileys as it is Christmas

KittensAndCake · 24/11/2018 17:11

Ooh great thread.

I'd have cheese, crackers & chutney (counts as one, right?)

Aldi mini stollen (or After eights)

Cherryade (reminds me of Christmas as a kid)

My song would be 'A spaceman came travelling' by Chris de Burgh 🎅

Littlechocola · 24/11/2018 17:14

Stilton
Christmas pudding
Moët

Perfect

Good post op!

MinecraftHolmes · 24/11/2018 17:16
