Has anyone bought a ‘grow your own crystal’ set that has been good?

The ones on Amazon have got really mixed reviews!!

It’s for DD-age 10.

I bought one for DS last year - the Science Museum Crystal Laboratory. It's absolutely rubbish - definitely one to avoid!

My daughter had one from the works last year which was good but check reviews on specific sets they don’t all work. ‘Sparkle science’ was good too.

I've looked at these too & was put off by the mixed reviews. Bought a science experiments set instead but think I'll get the one recommended above as well.

I got some fab ones from Tiger. Then a dud from a Proper Brand.

I think sitting on the shop shelf for too long is the problem - hence Tiger's being great.

We got the big 4M kit. It's good but you have to be very patient and not touch the crystal for a few days while it grows.

My daughter has this one.

She had managed to get crystals but sometimes it works and sometimes no crystals grow!

We got this one one year. Worked well apart from the last step where you try to create the formed crystals. The mould broke and others couldn’t be properly extracted. The outcome is nothing like on the pictures.

It is also a long process, the experiments have to be done in a row.

But Dd and DH had fun. She got it when she was 9 and def needed help, I think the age recommendation depends on the child.

Agree with tickledonion the 4m one was good, but you have to leave it alone for the week.
