Inspiration needed for an 18 year old girl (not girly)

I am really struggling with what to get DD this year for xmas as a main present. She says she has everything she wants and needs so there isn't anything she wants to ask for.

She is not girly so isn't into makeup or clothes really - although she does have a huge collection of trainers (but i have already brought 2 pairs to add to that)

Can anyone offer me some inspiration of what to get her?

How about an "experience" present? For his recent 18th birthday, I bought my ds a voucher to dive with sharks at the aquarium we used to visit when he was little. He's not had chance to use it yet but he loved the gift.
Is there anything similar your dd would like? Driving lessons?

Sweetheart · 19/11/2018 11:44

Dd already drives - and for her 18th birthday (again because she didn't want anything) she had a day where we took her to drive sports cars and fly a plane.

I did wonder about getting her some premier inn vouchers so she could have a weekend away with a friend but that's the best I've come up with so far.

Any bands she likes got a tour coming up? Theatre show ie Hamilton or wicked?

Sweetheart · 19/11/2018 14:11

no, the only thing I know she wanted to go to was the Capital winter ball which is obv before Christmas. Plus by the time you've brought 2 tickets for that it's pretty expensive!

She's not really into theatre shows - she would enjoy it if we went as a family but not the sort of thing she would choose to go to herself.

Thinking what non girly girl me would have liked.. (wouldn’t expect much being 18)

Does she have a partner? Hotel for the night if so.
A day at the spa
Tickets to a gig
Jewellery?
Voucher for her hairdressers or a place she likes to eat out at
Straighteners or curlers?
Trainers
dvds
New bedding
Candles
Headphones
Pajamas

Weekend away sounds good
But what does she like..
Music - my niece loved going old school and getting a turn table (plus the records solves many a Christmas and birthday to come!)
Same niece is into comics, anime and drawing
Another niece loves to be warm and cosy so blankets, cosy socks and cashmere fingerless gloves
Books - creative writing course?
Iphone photography course?
Customised trainers?

Does she read? I really liked Steinbeck at her age. Or have any hobbies? Oil paints would go down well with most girls that age.

Sweetheart · 19/11/2018 15:10

She is such a bloody nightmare! Honestly!

She does have 1 sporting hobby but doesn't need any equipment for that. Her bedroom was redone as her 17th birthday present so all bedding / blankets etc tied into that.

She does have a partner - hence the vouchers I suggested earlier.

She is quite a home body - she does watch netflix so maybe a cinema membership or something....?

She isn't creative - she is more of an action / adventure kindof girl.

What about vouchers to a bear gryllis course?

Sweetheart · 19/11/2018 15:58

I don't think she would know who Bear Gryllis is.

Just asked my 18 year old who sounds similar to yours. She said a new pair of PJs for every month, a Sherpa blanket and ugg slippers 😂

A Lego Modular building like this

shop.lego.com/en-GB/Parisian-Restaurant-10243

It is “grown up” Lego and it’s awesome.

Upgrades of things she likes/uses a lot - so in my dd2's case that might be:
nicer underwear/socks/t-shirts than usual
shower gel/face wash etc maybe in a new washbag to use when going away/staying with friends (or to use next year for uni)

A 'doing' thing like Lego or a big jigsaw or Nanoblocks or a board game

A year's supply of (insert treat of choice!)

We also end up wrapping up silly things like a huge box of cans of coke, some beers etc

Sweetheart · 19/11/2018 20:07

She will get smellies / undies / pjs etc. Thinking more along the lines of main present. Her brother is getting a 2nd hand PS4 as his main gift

DD is really not girly, her ideal present would be her height, or preferably her 6'5" brother's, height in books. Plus chocolate.

Apart from that does she have any hobbies, DD is into magic the gathering, and loves her Xbox.
