How to make our home look festive without the tree?

We won’t be putting up a tree this year as we don’t have the space in our new home. We have a small potted tree for the coffee table but I feel like it won’t look as warm & festive without the actual big tree.
Any ideas of decorations we could use to help? I’ve got lots of fairy lights and baubles left over from the tree last year and I can pin things to the wall & ceilings

How about a flat tree-shaped decoration for the wall, or a wreath inside?

Can you put up garlands anywhere and decorate those? I have these in addition to my tree as I think they look beautiful and very festive

Have you got kids? I'd get the whole family to make a big tree collage and make garlands, baubles etc to stick all over it, you could add to it over the weeks

but my house is a messy glitterfest

I have garlands on the stairs with baubles hanging from them, those teeny fairy lights draped around door frames. A garland on the mantelpiece with stocking holders, more decorations attached to it (velvet bows and birds), wreaths hanging on the wall (I take the normal pictures down). I have large glass baubles that hang from the ceiling in the kitchen windows (found some amazing non-marking sticky things last year, will have to look them up again...).

Our tree is only one piece of the Christmas puzzle!

I'd do as a PP suggests and put a large tree-like decoration on the wall. You can buy all sorts from bleached twiggy ones to colourful ones like a slice of a fake green one, with lights and baubles if you like. Also loads of inspiration to make your own if you google Christmas tree wall hanging.

Paper chains and fairy lights always look festive. A wreath on the door, and silver and gold stars cut out of shiny paper. Sprigs of holly (real or artificial).

But do you really not have room for a little tree - a 3ft artificial one? I think what you lose in space you gain in jollity.

Yes we have kids so lots of glitter here too Smile

These ideas are fab thank you, the kids are going to have some felt wall trees in their rooms but I love the garland idea for the living room

That last pic with the lights is lovely, think I might give that a try.
My living room is really small, we have our massive Sofa that fitted lovely in our old living room but swamps this one, a fairly large tv unit and then dining table.
I can’t put a tree on the table as dc need to eat there but I was thInking of making a festive centrepiece

I mainly do lots of fresh greenery, including holly, loads of ivy and mistletoe.

I don't have the space either so I got one of these - it's Cox and Cox but I got mine off eBay and got some lovely amber twiggy lights to go with it from amazon (cox and cox have the same at twice the price!)

It's beautiful and really pretty with the lights on - I love it way more than I realised I would as you still get the cosy/warm feeling from it Smile
