She doesn’t sit still much, so all craft, journals etc type things are out.
She doesn’t engage in board games, jigsaws etc for long. She likes to be out and about on the go etc.
I feel like this year I am just going to be buying things for the sake of it as last years sylvanian and hatchimals lay around barely played with.
Any ideas as I’ve really no idea and if I ask her she’ll list about 100 things that she won’t play with anyway and I can never pin point what she actually wants.

I got my DD a metal detector for her tenth birthday. Not a posh one but one that's good enough for a beginner. She's not the type to sit still either! She loves it!

I bought DS one a few years back, when he was about 10 from Smyths but it never worked and beeped at nothing and didn’t beep at metal so I sent it back and never got another. Might be worth another go and buy a better one from somewhere else.

Surely you've answered your own question. Outdoor stuff, bikes, scooter, roller skates/blades. Any clubs she my do related stuff, skateboards, surfboards

I’ve looked at outdoorsy stuff and haven’t seen anything she hasn’t already got though she hasn’t got a metal detector so that might be a good call.

Fit bit ?

AtSea1979 · 16/11/2018 00:14

That’s a good idea. I have one so we could do challenges together.

I'm on the hook for a Fitbit for an 11 year old and still wondering if it's just a phase thing due to friends. Doubt I'll get a choice though

AjasLipstick · 16/11/2018 02:13

I wonder if Fitbits are really wise for girls about to enter the high pressure world of teenage-life-as-a-girl.

I don't think encouraging pre teens to count their steps or whatever...or keep tally on exercise at all, is a good idea.

Yes don't get a "toy" metal detector OP. Get a proper one....but a starters one. A simple one but not a toy.

Some of the ideas on here might be good, such as the camera, karaoke machine, glitter lamp, ice lolly maker etc... thetoptoys.blogspot.com/2018/09/present-ideas-for-10-year-old-girls.html#more

AtSea1979 · 16/11/2018 21:41

Thanks for all the ideas
