Oh my god, HOW much for a Barbie dream house??

DD is 8 and has just this year decided she likes dolls. She's never been into them, but she is suddenly missing having 'toys' because in recent years she's been much more into board games and books.

So she's added a Barbie Dream House to her list.

It's £230!!! For some plastic??? There's no way we can afford that. Anybody else just want to share their general shock at the price of plastic tat?

Could you get a second hand one. I clicked on your link as when I was a child my best friend had a Barbour dream house and I loved playing with it when I went to her house. She was an only child and had a toy room.
They have been making them for years so it must be possible to get a cheaper one.

Have you looked at Kidkraft dolls houses? They are for Barbie sized dolls but quite a bit cheaper than £230 and they look lovely!

I agree kidcraft houses are lovely & they last.barbie houses are cheap plastic easy broken too x

Could you get a smyths or Argos catalogue and casually leave it open on the Kidkraft pages?? I reckon if your DD sees them she might prefer them!

God, it's hideous and so plasticky.

The main attraction seems to be the flushing loo sound, the light up fire and light up oven.

Agree with kidcraft. We got our daughter one of those and it’s wooden, decorated and Barbie size. Some have similar features like lifts.

Half the price of the bar is dream house and is even better because it has shops on the bottom layer which adds an extra level of play.

Barbie needs a bullet in the head. I am 45 now and remember earnestly explaining to my little sister what a waste of money it all was-I must have been about 10. How is this shite still selling?

Yes kidcraft is gorgeous- they've got a few in Costco at the moment

Haha no, but one made a good effort to get in the car (in the garage) I wouldn’t let the girls put them on the second floor as they are fairly kamikaze as pigs go!

My mum once bought me a Barbie campervan for Christmas.

It was obviously expensive (and we were pretty skint) but I opened it and was so pleased!

Then she realised that it came in little bits that needed to be put together, she was so cross that for that money it wasn’t put together that she took it back to the shop and I didn’t have it anymore

Still never forgotten and really can’t understand why she did that as it was pretty mean and she’s not a nasty person at all!

I’d love the house even now
