Christmas acts of kindness/kindness elves

I thought that it might be useful to have a thread where we can share ideas for nice things to do for other people in the run-up to Christmas. A lot of the idea online are either aimed at very young children or are very expensive. So suggestions for all ages and budgets are welcome.

Some nice ideas I've seen include writing a letter to a relative or family friend, having the elves magically tidy up the child's room and asking them to clean up after someone else, noticing whenever someone does nice and saying thank you.
