Hello,
Please can anyone suggest some Christmas books (my children always get a book each and their new pj's from Christmas Elf on Christmas Eve).
Ideally something with beautiful pictures.
Running out of ideas this year ! They are 2, 4 and 6.
thanks :)

We got a fab wee pop up book called the 12 Bugs of Christmas last year.
Mick Inkpen book called Jingle Bells is also lovely
There is a pretty book called little owl and the star (I think)
And the Jan Pienkowski (sp?) Nativity book is beautiful.
TK Maxx also has some lovely Christmas books the other day that I was very tempted by.

Mogs Christmas is only £2 on amazon just now.
And this looks beautiful.

The Night Before Christmas
Santa's Sleigh Is Coming To (your town)

100% recommend Oliver elephant. It came out last year and my 3-4 year old loved it. For the two year old that’s not my Santa? Also there is a maisy book, I think maisy’s cheistmas presents. It’s pop up and gorgeous.

Santa’s Special Letter is lovely. www.amazon.co.uk/Santas-Special-Letter-Gail-Yerrill/dp/1845069900?tag=mumsnetforum-21
Lots of lovely details, letters and lists to open.

Marking to read later. We get a new book each year for Christmas Eve.

At their age they'd probably love a personalised book.

We read one Christmas book a night (previous Christmas Eve books) on the run up to Christmas.

Mine are packed up but we have...

  • Mogs Christmas
  • On this special night (DD loves this, I don't get the point but lovely pictures)
  • The Christmas version of Not so scary did
  • The night before Christmas
  • There is a generic book but which names your town. Tescos normally sell it.
  • A nice book about the navity

I have a couple of those already but definitely a fair few to check through.

thank you [santa]

We love The Empty Stocking in our house (and I cry every time I read it!)

LilMy33 · 11/11/2018 19:27

For beautiful illustrations you can’t beat Shirley Hughes imo she’s written quite a few Christmassy books- we have several that I have collected over the years that come out the beginning of December.

We also love how the grinch stole Christmas and the jolly Christmas postman. Reading Christmas books with my children definitely one of my favourite things to do in the run up to the big day.

I loved this as a child, surprised to see it's still available

Babybearsporij · 13/11/2018 10:36

How about the local books "Santa is coming to xxxx" we have one for our county and the DC still love it. The village that we used to live in gets a mention.
