Can you play Xbox one games on 360 and vide versa

My son has an Xbox 360 and a Xbox one although my oh has taken it over as a blue ray player in the front room and son has the 360 upstairs in his room. I want to get a couple of games one being sonic forces and want it to play on both consoles.

I know you can play certain Xbox 360 games on the Xbox one, it tells you online which ones are backward compatible, try the Xbox website.
Honestly don't think you can play Xbox one games on the 360 though

I think you can play some Xbox 360 games on the Xbox one but not the other way round I.e. can't play Xbox one games on the 360 (I may be wrong though)

I know my fil bought my son some Xbox 360 games for his Xbox 1 last christmasand we couldn’t play them.

I have left 4 dead which is an Xbox 360 game and it works on the Xbox one. Only because it's backwards compatible. A lot work, only if they're on the list though
