I'm thinking about putting together a hamper for DH full of weird and wonderful food items. So far I have:

Brussel sprout crisps
Hot and sweet skittles
Wasabi peas
Hmm....

What else?

Q

Where have you found the Brussel Sprout crisps?! I have been looking
.......

Walker's recently did a 60's/70's multipack of crisps. I know Lamb & Mint Sauce featured, as well as Cheese Fondue.

Dark chocolate coated coffee beans (Whittard).

Christmas tea (Whittard).

Some sort of flavoured beer?

mycatplotsdeath · 08/11/2018 22:22

Bombay mix
Pork scratching
Craft ale

Jellybluebean · 08/11/2018 22:34

Some.brilliant ideas here - I think he'd particular like bacon chocolate!

@Leeds2 - I haven't seen them in any supermarkets but our local shop/newsagent has them :)

Sainsbury's are doing both Sprout and Pigs in Blankets teas bags.

Spam88 · 08/11/2018 23:11

Does he like marmite? Could include marmite chocolate?

Jellybluebean · 09/11/2018 07:03

Uuuurrgghh marmite chocolate sounds yukky as do the tea bags.... He'd love them both! Thank you!

There are jelly beans with awful flavours - I can't remember the exact name but maybe something like Beanboozled? Identical colours could be nice or awful - like Bertie Botts in HP I think. DD loves those.

M&S do broad beans as snacks, a bit like wasabi peas but slightly different. Can't remember the exact name again but maybe Habas Fritas or similar? DH likes both.

DH also likes Winter and Christmas beers (he tends to like Belgian lagers and ales anyway) so a good craft beer store may be able to get you some interesting ones.

Leeds look out for Walkers multipacks for sprout lovers.

BiddyPop · 09/11/2018 10:50

Chilli chocolate?

sueelleker · 15/11/2018 09:13

I think the American section of the foreign foods shelf in Sainsbury would probably have some weird stuff. I know they have some strange cans of flavoured drinks.

HappyGirl86 · 15/11/2018 09:24

What about those sweets/chocolate that have insects in them?? I'm sure you'd get them online but I've seen them in places like selfridges in past years

neddle · 15/11/2018 10:25

One of the food boxes I got on a trial had lots of unusual things in it like bacon jam.
I think it was flavourly and I got about three trial boxes and mixed the stuff up for dh and my dad.

Star2015 · 15/11/2018 21:13

Check home bargains or B&M for American candy - B&M also have the (fake) been boozle things so chocolate or cat food flavour Confused

MinorProphet · 15/11/2018 21:17

The world food section of our Tesco has indivudal cartons of alcoholic egg nog. Lush.

Bacon jam,yes.

Rhubarb tea is really really nice.

Grapefruit marmalade, mmmm.

I like this idea, I can think of loads my husband would like (although actually nothing exotic really, he's a simple man).

spanishwife · 15/11/2018 21:19

Get yourself down to a huge supermarket with a "world foods" section and have a mooch, my old Tesco had great stuff from America as well as Japan, China, Thailand etc

Tinlegs · 15/11/2018 21:58

Insects. We got various different ones from the Food Hall at Harvey Nicks.
