Does anyone else love a cheesy Christmas film? It's a bit early for me, but I've just spotted they're on 5 On demand now for anyone wanting to get into the festive spirit!

I'm looking forward to cuddling up on a quiet afternoon soon and indulging in one or two of these, they'reone of my guilty pleasures

Ha yes me too - I found myself getting drawn into one a couple of days ago when I was channel hopping. I spent the rest of the day feeling festive and panicking slightly that I'd not done any planning yet - then I remembered it's only just November Blush

As an aside - I can never quite believe how many Christmas films Dean Kane is in. He must really love Christmas!

Badtasteflump · 08/11/2018 14:54

And what's even worse is that the Christmas music channels are also now on Sky - and when you're flicking through you can't avoid getting a burst. I heard the start of Fairytale of New York last night and as much as I love that song, it's way too early.

I love them.

Spent Saturday afternoon having a channel 5 Christmas movie-fest

Even DH got suckered in

Angelkd · 08/11/2018 20:49

I love them too, last year i watched so many of them, they seem to have started earlier this year x

MouseRatFan · 08/11/2018 21:39

I enjoyed the one about the ice carving competition today.

BishBoshBashBop · 08/11/2018 21:43

There are 2 a day on every day on C5 and more at the weekend.

Love a cheesy Christmas film. DH not so much although strangely enough he will watch it if it's on

SuperstarDJ · 08/11/2018 21:45

I love them. Watched the first one this year on Tuesday afternoon. It was so shite it was amazing. I’ve commenced my maternity leave at the best time of year Grin

RoseMartha · 08/11/2018 22:13

MarcieBluebell · 09/11/2018 02:52

MoonMaybe · 09/11/2018 03:05

Absolutely love the Channel 5 Christmas films in our house! There was a fabulous one on Channel 5 called just last week A Nutcracker Christmas-one to check out!
We've also been enjoying out the films on True Christmas channel but the C5 ones are No.1 in my books! Smile

Me too

These are hilarious. They all follow a variation on the same story:

Career obsessed, cynical city girl splits up with or is unhappy with yuppie non comittal boyfriend. So visits the small town where she grew up (there is normally some draw such as inheriting a farm / run down hotel / helping save the family Christmas tree business). She meets her childhood sweetheart who she carelessly tossed aside for the pull of the bright lights; meets a widower / abandoned divorcee with adorable small child or teen. Initially they argue / don’t get on / he is a condescending arse / she acts spoilt / she is adamant she won’t be staying. But they grow close working on said farm / hotel / helping his child(ren). He is embittered about his past failed relationships and she is obsessed with career. But circumstances and. Magical small town allure at Christmas conspire to make her realise she belongs in her small town and needs to settle down and give up her career to look after him and his kids or run a shop, or whatever.

Badtasteflump · 14/11/2018 14:04

Ha! I watched one like that a day or to ago. A high flying doctor came back to her home town and fell in lurve then blah blah blah.

Do the towns always have a 'secret' though - that Santa is living among them? Or was it just the twist of this one?

I loved it anyway Blush

Badtasteflump · 14/11/2018 14:04

OMG I realise it's 'day or two'....

Figmentofimagination · 14/11/2018 14:11

If you have sky or virgin there is also a channel called Christmas 24. I love all the cheesy Christmas movies. I was on mat leave last Christmas and recorded so many I didn't get through them all. Lacey Chabert from mean girls is always in a few Christmas movies every year.
I'm also looking forward to watching some of the Netflix christmas movies.

Pibplob · 14/11/2018 14:17

It’s just coming on now. Very disappointed Dean Cain isn’t I. This one. I used to love him!

LoisWilkerson1 · 14/11/2018 14:21

I had a thread about this a couple of years ago, they are so bad but I had a great laugh. Did anyone see the Cinderella one yesterday. AwfulGrin

BrieAndChilli · 14/11/2018 14:28

God I love christmas24 (itsa the hallmark channel in the US so all the same stuff)
The same people pop up in various films and even though they all follow the same cheesy format I just love watching them.

BrieAndChilli · 14/11/2018 18:08

P.s thanks @GVmama i didn’t know these films were on 5demand and so far I have been recording cheesy xmas films on the sky box and waiting to have the TV to myself - so DH doesn’t scoff at them!!
I can know watch them on my tablet while I am cooking/pottering around the house!! You’ve made my festive period!!!!

TheCountryGirl · 14/11/2018 18:17

Moon I loved that one. It was beautiful...I feel like I have seen The Nutcracker for real!😁

PerspicaciaTick · 14/11/2018 18:28

Freeview channel 62 is called True Christmas and is currently showing cheesy American Christmas films 24x7.
Tis fab.
