Hosting Christmas - what to wear on Christmas Day

I've done a search but can't find a recent thread on this. Wondering what you plan on wearing on Christmas Day if you're the one doing most of the cooking. I love looking at the Christmas fashions online and in magazines but haven't found anything conducive to being in a busy kitchen for most of the day. Family will arrive a good few hours before lunch is served so I need to be relatively respectable from about noon. My usual Christmas outfit of black palazzo pants and a sparkly top needs an update! Wondering what you have in mind and what's your routine for getting ready on Christmas day if you're the main host/chef? If going to a religious service we'd usually go the evening before.

Main requirements would be -
No need for tights so trousers or midi/maxi skirt dress
Definitely not wearing heels so needs to go with flats

I usually wear a blue velvet skirt that I've had for donkey's years and whatever top I fancy, I usually wear slippers on my feet

I usually wear skinny jeans and a Christmas jumper for cooking, and then put on a plain black dress with a Christmas cardigan for after - more room to eat in a black jersey dress than in skinny jeans! Grin

I was going to say nice trousers and maybe a Christmas T-shirt for cooking, with a quick change to a naice top for the meal, and a chance to run the hairbrush through your hair/reapply lipstick (if either are necessary) just before you are ready to sit down for a pre-dinner drink or starters (depends on your levels of chaos - I’m assuming it’s all under control so relaxed drink is it🤶)

I thought I replied to this already and now I’m wondering if I’ve randomly posted about clothes on another thread Blush

I don’t get to dress up often enough to need a new outfit so it will be one of two dresses that are fitted and flattering but made of jersey type fabric so very comfortable and with all important ruching across the stomach to accommodate a big dinner. Heels and smart coat for mass, home and change into flats and a pretty apron.

We still get up at silly o’clock and mass is at 12 so there’s lots of time for a leisurely cooked breakfast, showers for all, time to get dressed and get the bird in the oven. Guests usually stay over or arrive for 1 ish with dinner at 3ish. Most prep done on Christmas Eve so it’s just a case of juggling it into the oven.
