Japanese themed gifts for DS

startingafresh1 · 03/11/2018 12:07

DS is 11 and into Japan and anything Japanese.

I'm trying to think of present ideas, especially small gifts.

He loves anime but it's very expensive, he has a lot and tends to buy it with pocket money so it's tricky to keep up with what edition he would like....

Any inspiration would be brilliant!

My kids love the Japanese kitkats in unusual flavours. I always get them some as a stocking filler. Amazon sell them I think but there are quite a few other online retailers.

The origami kit is a winner. My neices loved it

There might be some bits at blippo.com

Frustratedfrenchie · 03/11/2018 12:14

Have a look on blippo. They have loads of Japanese sweets and goodies that my daughters love.

A crunchyroll subcription?
An embroidered 'kimono' (ahem silk dressing gown)
Ninja headbands
Fake Kunai or shuriken
Japanese lessons

Hmm i cant think of much else for boys my 9yo dd is also into everything japanese at the moment but i find its so much easier finding gifts for girls. An example of her (too close to bloody xmas) b.day list is: Bento box, real chopsticks, bento stamps.
Kimono and fan and some posh green tea and like a thousand "kawaii" plushies shes after (she'll get one or two only)

SuperPug · 03/11/2018 12:18

I also love stuff from Japan.
Hyper Japan Christmas Festival in December?
There's also a great Japanese supermarket where you can buy kit kats, sweets etc and restaurant in Leicester Square.

Ramine drinks are a huge hit here (some bigger Sainsbury's sell them)

Boxes for noodles to go in like a Japanese takeaway too

Japanese tea, sushi making kits and strange Japanese sweets

A book on learning Japanese

A poster

Look up The Japan Centre for ideas. We also have a Tokyo toy shop near is full of t shirts and kitsch stuff:they may be online?

TwoGinScentedTears · 03/11/2018 12:19

It's Ramune the bottles of Japanese lemonade. Bloody autocorrect!

Amazon has really cool Japanese candy boxes, I get my younger sister one every year as part of her birthday! you do need to order a bit in advance though so I would advise looking soon

mama1980 · 03/11/2018 12:23

Yurei attack and Ninja attack are great books my Japan obsessed ds1 loves them
Otherwise Japanese toilet candy was a hit, as was various Japanese sweets.
