Christmas card designs

What do you go for? I'm feeling a bit put out because I was ordering cards last night and DH commented that everyone would assume they'd been sent the last card in the box because the cards I like are so awful

I like anything with religious art or with animals in the snow. Apparently this is completely uncool (what is a cool Christmas card? Why would anyone need their cards to be cool? So many questions...)

So, are my cards awful? What do you like?

(I'm sticking to the ones I like, btw, and everyone can just lump them Grin)

Since my dd has been born we have made our own out of hand/foot prints, corny I know but it gives us an afternoon of something to do together which we both enjoy. I don't care if people think they're uncool, we only send to family anyway.

I’ve ordered the Paperchase charity ones of cats in Santa hats.

We’re known for being obsessive cat lovers, so might as well go all in.

I like a mixture of nativity scenes and less religious ones, but what I do like is a bit of glitter, and what I don’t like it ones that are so hip and stylish they don’t say festive in any way, shape or form.

I got some lovely sparkly nativity ones and slightly old fashioned scenes in Scope last year.

If you write and send them op, you get to choose!

VivaJen · 03/11/2018 07:45

I just love receiving Christmas cards and I really don't care what they look like - the ones I usually pick are a little traditional but not religious.

I agree with Staringcoat - if you are writing them and sending them you get to choose.

The idea of cards is that other people display them at home, so when I buy a multipack I go for nice stuff that will match lots of different styles/people.

There are lots of cool cards that look great in the shop, but a bit weird when you actually put them up. Like a black card with hot pink writing saying 'merry shitmas, tinsel tits' is nice and all, but it's going to make too much of itself with my Victorian green, gold and red decorations so I'll probably be putting that one at the back. Likewise, I'm an atheist, so ta for the card and all, but if it's got a smiling baby jesus or whatever on it, it's going behind the 'tinsel tits' one.

Animals in the snow, though - you can't go wrong with that.

I usually look for a design that appeals to me, like this range I sent a year or so ago - these are two of the designs.

Are these annoying? I like any cards I get, tbh, yours sound lovely. What I don't like is people I know posting on FB that they have donated a tenner to charity instead of sending cards. Costs much more than a tenner to send 50 cards, pal! And I LOVE getting them in the post, so cheering, at such a dark time of year.

Oh my links didn't work!

I like the same kind of cards as you OP. This year I’m ordering them from the dogs trust, they’ve got some really cute ones.

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 18:23

Those Rifle Paper Co ones are lovely.

OP, I think animals in the snow and religious scenes are lovely as well! Christmas is not a time for being "cool" imo Grin It's all about sentiment and nostalgia - for me anyway.

I love the Medici Gallery cards but I can hardly ever find nice multi packs, just single ones. I also like the V&A ones (although pricey) with either art scenes or black and white vintage photos or illustrations.

Another one for cats!!

Floralnomad · 03/11/2018 23:14

We order a batch from one of the Moonpig / funky pigeon type companies , last year it was our dog in front of the Christmas tree with a fairy light collar , this year it is the dog out playing in a snow storm .
