Anyone know where I can buy this? It has been requested, and making it isn't an option!!

Also, has anyone seen the Brussel Sprout crisps on sale? I have seen the publicity, but never seen yet on sale in the supermarkets I go to.

You could just crumble feta onto shop bought tomato soup.

SwanneeKazoo · 01/11/2018 22:01

Waitrose sells a tomato and red pepper soup with Wensleydale cheese by Yorkshire Provender, which I imagine would be similar. It’s delicious. Not seen a tomato and feta soup.

Requested ! Your guests are cheeky (unless you asked for ideas)
But a tin of Heinz with a shaving of feta sounds lovely

witchmountain · 01/11/2018 22:08

You know what’s really good on cream of tomatoe soup? Bits of black pudding. Cooked first, obviously.

Otherwise, as others have said, chop up feta, throw into soup!

Esspee · 01/11/2018 22:09

Home made tomato soup is so easy to make, and it can be done in advance. Simply crumble the feta into it with fresh basil at the last minute. Just experiment before Christmas so that you are confident you have a winner.

But really good tomato soup is even easier to buy Halloween Grin

For those asking, Christmas will be me, DD and her boyfriend (who I have never met). He isn't British, and his family doesn't celebrate Christmas.

I have asked DD what he likes to eat, and she came up with tomato soup and feta. So that is what I am looking for! Waitrose sounds like it will do nicely!! I haven't cooked Christmas lunch for 10+ years, so am panicking slightly - idea of a ready made soup I can heat up is very appealing!! Although I would never normally choose soup as a starter as I think it is very filling!

I just want the boy to feel welcome. DD says he is terrified of meeting me, which I guess is usual for a boyfriend. I really am not at all frightening, and I want him to feel at home.

I have never tried black/white pudding. I am absolutely NOT a fussy eater, but it just doesn't appeal.

You sound lovely. Maybe have a good talk with your DD, is he vegetarian ? Would he like a traditional British Christmas ? Or would you all just like a lovely relaxed day with a nice simple meal.

witchmountain · 01/11/2018 22:44

Understandable!

Leeds2 · 01/11/2018 23:05

Budgie, he isn't vegetarian, but my DD is! I am thinking some sort of turkey, and quorn for her. She is home for a week in a couple of weeks, and I want to present a menu for her approval, otherwise it will be left to me and I will panic! I do do a nice cheese board!

If there is only 3 of you and she's the vegetarian make a delicious veggie menu.
I am not a vegetarian, but last night I had the most delicious meal. Bruchetta with goat's cheese, with salad and a balsamic dressing.
I'd actually by now looking at the drinks menu Grin

Budgieinaberet · 01/11/2018 23:22

I need to confess I had meatballs for starters!

WTFsMyUserName · 01/11/2018 23:26

The M&S cream of tomato soup (the fresh one from the refrigerator) is devine if you're going to buy it in.

Leeds2 · 01/11/2018 23:45

Drinks menu is more my scene Budgie!

I am not really sure what either of them drink, but DD has mentioned bucks fizz for breakfast so I am taking that as a good sign!

Am hoping to go to M&S next week, to get their catalogue for ordering.

Leeds I'm off to bed now, but I was actually in Leeds today,
I deliberately went to Leeds to go to the best pie shop in the world.

I'm saying nothing, but it's Wilson's

Pie could be a great Christmas dinner
