I think this is a wonderful campaign that Lemn Sissay, who was a looked after child himself, has organised.
All the details are here to those people who are interested.

Seems like a really good idea but I found the website a bit confusing - is it something you know about/ could bullet point what people can do to help, e.g. Donations or are they specifically looking for people to organise it? Sorry I'm probably just being dim and tired

I think the easiest thing is perhaps to look at his twitter feed which has the relevant information in a better format?

this page might be better for breaking it down. It seems to be encouraging you/us/communities to have a Christmas lunch event for care leavers in our area

It looks like a wonderful and very worthwhile occasion but reading all that as a layperson, I’m thinking there isn’t NO WAY I could do all that. It seems like an enormous and overwhelming undertaking.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 28/10/2018 22:35

is no way. Bloody autocorrect

Bowchicawowow · 29/10/2018 18:21

Thanks DonDraper It does look like a big commitment but it’s a great cause.

If setting up your own project seems daunting then there's no reason why you can't support an existing project. My local project in Richmond-Upon-Thames needs £3,000 alone for taxis for the young people (no public transport on Christmas Day), £5,000 to give them all the kind of present they might have got had they been part of a family, plus stockings. food etc.

Or you could see if you could put a working party together with other like-minded people who live near you and see how far you get. Too late for this year but not for next year.

How do you find out if one is set up in your area? I'd love to get involved but I'd imagine everything is up and running so how do I donate

Bowchicawowow · 01/11/2018 18:31

I think that they have a just giving page incywincy.
