We have done a variety of things in recent years. We did turkey lattice one year, curry another and beef last year. I really want beef wellington but they are around £30 to feed 4 people as a minimum and we could be hosting PIL so would be feeding 6-7.
What are you having?

Turkey and gammon
Pigs in blankets

I was thinking Gammon. Its the kids favourite meat. They don't often enjoy beef or turkey.

pippop1317 · 27/10/2018 21:41

Were having churkey
The kids always tell me they don't like turkey. And only like chicken. So I tell them were going to be eating churkey!

BexleyRae · 27/10/2018 21:41

But will still do some pigs in blankets for DP

chipsandpeas · 27/10/2018 21:42

Floralnomad · 27/10/2018 21:42

Myusername101z · 27/10/2018 21:42

Chicken gammon pigs in blankets

hidinginthenightgarden · 27/10/2018 21:44

Still pretty expensive chipsandpeas. typically ot is made with fillet of beef which is why it costs so much. If I made my own I would have to practice a few times so would end up spending a fair bit!

Pebblespony · 27/10/2018 21:50

If I'm at my parents, turkey. Cooked till pretty much inedible. Then cooked some more. Ditto with the veg.

applecatchers36 · 27/10/2018 21:52

Goose and Gammon

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/10/2018 01:05

I buy chicken for DS ( free range breast with the skin on) which is roasted.

DH,DD and I are vegetarian so most likely a Quorn Roast to go with all the sides .

ColinsVeryJolly · 28/10/2018 01:11

We just have chicken, the kids aren’t keen on turkey so don’t see the point in spending a fortune on fancy meat. We’re happy with a chicken and lots of lovely sides.

LiquoricePickle · 29/10/2018 22:59

Turkey. I stuff the cavity with lemons, onions and garlic. Yum.

claireymrsd · 29/10/2018 23:33

If we're at home or at the inlaws it will be turkey. If we're at my parents then it'll be beef as mums not a big fan of turkey

Jasperoonicle · 29/10/2018 23:35

HollyBollyBooBoo · 30/10/2018 05:40

Rib of beef from our local farm. 21 day aged Angus x Shorthorn - gorgeous!

babycakes1010 · 30/10/2018 05:51

Turkey,Gammon and beef

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 30/10/2018 05:54

Beef.

Florin · 30/10/2018 06:08

2.5 ribs of beef between 4 of us, for us it is our traditional Christmas roast. We order it from the butchers in our local farm shop who is also the farmer and can tell you about the exact animal it’s from. Not the cheapest option but wouldn’t be Christmas without it.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/10/2018 07:44

Turkey. It's just not Christmas without a lovely golden roast turkey on the table - and all the leftovers to pick at.

I did beef one year at DM's since she wasn't keen on turkey (very fussy eater anyway) and it just wasn't the same.

We always have a big piece of gammon too, baked on Chr. Eve with an orange/spicy glaze, but don't often get around to that until Boxing Day.

Fishcakey · 30/10/2018 07:46

We've had a turkey crown the last couple of years as I have been outvoted but we've had beef, lamb, even fillet steak. Am not the biggest turkey fan so will happily talk everyone out of it if I can.

StrippingLLamaWhisperer · 30/10/2018 07:48

Beef and pork

welshweasel · 30/10/2018 07:48

Turkey! I bloody love it. We get a massive one and use the leftover brown meat for curries and stir fries for the whole of the January.
