I’ve had an unexpected bonus, circa £500 and I want to use it to buy my lovely mum something special for Christmas, but I have no idea what.

I thought about a beautiful price of jewellery, but I don’t really know where to start looking or if anyone knows of a bargain to be had?

She’s had a shitty year and she never treats herself so I’d love to get her something special that she can keep. I’d be grateful for any ideas Smile

DH bought me a beautiful necklace last Christmas. Like this but with a circle for each of our children. This would be way under your budget but perhaps you could also take her away for an overnight stay somewhere luxurious.

What a lovely thought. Do you definitely want an actual gift? My first thought was a night away together, perhaps seeing a show she's always wanted to see?

Other than that how about a really lovely handbag? Or an IOU for a shopping trip together to choose said handbag if you think she would prefer to choose her own?

You can't go wrong with diamond studs or nice pearl earrings I would have thought but I guess it depends on her style?

Well under budget but One Hundred Stars do some lovely dressing gowns.

A night away together or a spa day would be lovely - you sound so close I think she'd appreciate the time together

Tell us a bit more about her; dies she gave any interests/hobbies/things she wishes she'd done?

Thanks for the suggestions!

We actually went away to see a show last year or I’d have done that again. I’d like to get her something she can keep, which is why I thought jewellery.

She’s always wanted a diamond tennis bracelet so I’m looking at those, studs are a great idea too thank you. I love the name necklace, I’m going to drop hints to DH! She doesn’t wear necklaces unfortunately.

I’ll take a look at the dressing gowns, thank you!

She doesn’t really have many interests, her job takes up an awful lot of her time but we go to yoga together, or for days out wandering around local towns. Her job is a profession in which she’s always learning or preparing for something, so it doesn’t leave a lot of spare time for her to do much in an evening.

A spa day is a great idea, maybe I’d be able to buy her something to keep and stretch to that too. I don’t want to be too outing, but we lost my brother a few years ago which hit her hard. She has been my absolute rock and she’s so selfless, I’d just really like to buy her something special. She’s really not materialistic and we prefer to spend time together but we do a lot of that all year round.

Earrings?
A Buddha?
Cashmere socks/scarf?
Some meditation classes?

If you're looking for a diamond bracelet, synthetic diamonds are beautiful and much more affordable so you can get something else too. I bought a gift for my niece's 21st from diamant and she loves it.

Tickets to see the new Dior Exhibition in V& A. Followed by afternoon tea in Harrods which is just up the road.

If you could stretch to both day/lunch out I think that would be lovely. Give her the present on the day, just the two of you, and tell her how much you appreciate her. The words may mean more in a sense but she will probably enjoy the tangible pampering and gifts as well.

A nice locket necklace which can have a message engraved on the back, and space for a small photograph inside.

I got my mum a bespoke handbag from redbike leatherwork a small independent leather worker (as if you hadn’t worked that out) it’s stunning and as it was designed for her I got to select the colour of leather and lining and design itself as well as monogramming it. My mum adores it and the bag is a cracker - worth a look perhaps for something a little different
