I'm looking for figures or toys of the characters from Gorillaz for DS.
He is 4 years old and autistic. Gorillaz has been his main focus for the past 2 years. It started with just watching the animated music videos, he gets totally lost in them. Then he started to sing the songs, then he learned to sing the songs in Spanish (which then prompted him to learn other Spanish words) and now sings the songs in reverse (played backwards). Every single day he acts out scenes from the music videos and plays the songs on repeat.
He watches interview videos and knows that there are real people behind the characters.
Most recently he has started to draw storyboard style scenes from he videos and use lego minifigures as the group members.
What he would love more than anything is actual Gorillaz figures.
I have found some on ebay but it seems they are collectors edition. I would have no issue giving these to DS as he is very careful with his possessions, but the prices range from £100 per figure to anything up to £1200 for the full set. I have also found custom pop figures on etsy, the full set comes to £170-something. That's not a terrible price and I'm happy to pay it but would prefer something closer to the original figures.
Realistically if I had a money tree, I'd pay the £100 each for the main figures. The value they would have to DS would be waaaay more than anything else I could spend that money on. But I also have 2 other DC with niche interests who don't want much, but what they do want always seems so obscure and expensive.
We've already bought some stickers and posters but I know real figures would light up his whole world.
My sister has been to various independent music stores and had no luck, so I wonder if Mumsnet might know of some places or tricks or reasonably priced custom toy/figure makers to help in finding these for DS.
