I have one the same age... I am thinking about getting him one of those marble run kits (like the brio/ikea etc train track sets only for marbles).. if it's a hit, you can go on buying more bits (bridges etc) for future birthdays..

I have a 4 and 5 year old and that are getting a hot wheels garage and magic tracks. Imaginext stuff and Lego.
Stocking fillers- slippers and art stuff and pound shop tat.

When DS was 4 we bought him a marble run. He is now 6 & it is still one of his favourite toys

I have one of each.

4yr old is getting dinosaur things
and not sure what else yet.
5yr old is getting Lego, laser tag guns, something Star Wars-y.

There are some good ideas here thetoptoys.blogspot.com/2018/09/present-ideas-for-5-year-old-boy.html

All the Lego if he’s anything like mine (now 6). Books also went down well (Captain Underpants and Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree) and then there’s the Kindle Fire. Which may not be your idea of a good present but if you can cope with 5 year olds with tablets is a good option.

Lego for my 4.5 year old from us. He also loves his kinetic sand and digger. I'll be suggesting a transformer to the grandparents.

IncomingCannonFire · 21/10/2018 22:29

My eldest will be 5 mid november so for Christmas he is getting a joint present for him and his brother (18m) from Santa. It's the Step 2 track table canyon something. Basically a table with built in train tracks/canyons etc and the pieces are fixed in so can't be broken. He loves playing with the ikea train set but gets annoyed at having to build it up every time/put it away/when the baby smashes it up. Its from argos.

He'll then get around 6-7 decent sized presents and a stocking full of toy surprise eggs/slime/putty/sweets/ choc/ crap lol. His other presents are Guess Who?, cars 3 lego set, play doh ice cream maker thing, a science experiment kit, sea monkeys, avengers walkie talkies and a Hulk toy. All things hes been asking for.

Other things he already has and loves at this age are the diecast Thomas engines, anything to do with colouring in/drawing, anything avengers and Blaze and the monster machines figures with a big loop track thing.
