DS has been talking about how he made a circuit board with solder and LED in his DT class at school. I'm looking to encourage this with him with some bits at Christmas. He does competitive sports 4+ times a week, but otherwise is glued to Fortnite.
What gift could I add to his Christmas presents, I would normally look in maplins but that is now gone.

It's not so much electrical but a nice idea to convince him to get off fornite and learn in the process is microbits. You can buy a kit for him and he can code it to do cool stuff. He could, for example code and all singing remote controlled car!

I have a few suggestions from things I have bought my son over past few years:
John Adams Hot Wires
Littlebit R2 D2 Droid Inventor Kit
Robot arm kit
Haynes Build your own Jet Engine kit (do other kits too)
Snap Circuits kit
