Presents for 6 yr old boy that doesn't "play"?

DS doesn't do imaginative play with toys. He likes to make stuff with lego, knex etc.
I have no idea what to get him for xmas. It is his birthday tomorrow and we have got some magnatiles, lego, flashing sketchers and a few other bits. So far Knex is the only thing on his xmas list.
He has a trampoline, tablet, bike, scooter and plenty of toys that he doesn't play with. I really want to get him something he will love.
Any ideas much appreciated!

There are some brilliant kids’ engineering kits and similar - Bright Minds is ok for STEM toys, or the Science Museum has a good online shop. Thames and Kosmos do great engineering sets.

Thanks both. Nelly, he has all them! He loves science so last year got loads of stuff like that.
I have just seen another thread with the Snap Circuits mentioned so am adding them!
I will look at that link, thanks.

What about a Raspberry Pi?

Has he got a marble run? My 5 yo DS loves the one at school so that may well be a present for Xmas. Look up the brand Galt on Amazon.

My son had simbrix last year and loved them! From amazon.

He’s asked for a drum kit this year and the new monopoly!

He has a huge marble run that he never plays with
I have got a few great ideas off that brightminds website!

How about some science kits, those boxed ones you can get? Would he play with Junior Scrabble, or board games like Kerplunk, Guess Who or similar?

TchoupiEtDoudou · 26/10/2018 16:07

How about an mp3 player? My just turned 7 year old adores his (he rarely plays with toys)

Have a look at Smart Games. Really good mathematical/logic type puzzles.

snap circuits

Lego boost is amazing. His interest sound very similar to my DS's although DS is 8. The thing he really really wanted was DIY tools... saw, electric screwdriver, erg. Obviously this will require a lot of supervision but maybe it'd float his boat??!

I gave dgs5 a Batbot last year. It's a big blue Batman thing. He loves it and still plays with it.

Vicious2018 · 26/10/2018 21:48

I asked my ds8 what he is going to ask Santa to bring him. He wants Gravitrax and Lego. We got him both and then we got him "Build your own jet engine" -set for him.
