Am totally stumped this year.

He doesn’t want clothes, or books, doesn’t drink, already has a coffee machine, and is on a diet so doesn’t want treat food.

He does like:

  • films. Usually marvel and action films. But doesn’t want any DVDs and rarely has time for a cinema trip. Already has a popcorn maker.
  • massages but he gets these once a month anyway.
  • meals out with friends but we’ll do that as his birthday party, so it’s not really a gift.

Otherwise he just likes simple things (park with our children, lunch with friends, having a nap!) so can’t think of any gifts to go with those.

Any ideas? Please? Budget up to £150.

Membership to somewhere you can all go as a family? Like an adventure park or similar?

Alanamackree · 11/10/2018 06:33

Does he like useful things or fun things?
Is he a one-big-gift or pile-of-things person?
What kind of presents have worked well in the past?

sittingonacornflake · 11/10/2018 06:34

Does he have a gym membership?

Eminybob · 11/10/2018 06:36

I saw this on NOTHS and was planning to get it for dh. Yours might like it if he’s a film buff.

Fitbit?

Chimchar · 11/10/2018 06:39

Netflix or similar subscription

Book of vouchers from the kids 'trip to the park' 'picnic'

Funko pop figures of his favourite marvel character

Comic subscription

Photo collage of all your days out

WerewolfNumber1 · 11/10/2018 06:45

Thanks all!

We are members of all the things we can realistically go to on a regular basis (generous grandparents).

He has a gym membership, and a fitbit, and sees a personal trainer.

He doesn’t like anything he thinks is clutter so marvel figurines are out.

In the past he has liked:

  • framed photos of places he loves (thats an idea actually, we have space for one more photo)
  • treat food but he’s now on a diet
  • gadgets, but I’ve already bought them all! We have coffee machine, popcorn maker, ice cream maker etc etc.

In general he prefers things he can actually use.

Book of homemade vouchers might be an ok sort of gag gift but is it a real gift?

Have you got a waffle maker? We love ours!

Kaz2200 · 11/10/2018 06:50

How about an upgrade on things he already has, like beautiful sheepskin slippers, I can recommend Just Sheepskin Garrick. Or a cashmere jumper.

TwoGinScentedTears · 11/10/2018 06:54

Grooming gifts?
New man bag?
Board game?
A tempur pillow? (For his naps!)

SevenOf1981 · 11/10/2018 06:55

Check out some of the marvel artwork on displate (they keep coming up on my FB feed), or try Dave Pollot. I bought my DH a print from jim'll paint it for his birthday and that was a hit. Olly moss prints are usually good prices on eBay too.
Merchoid can be good for little geeky bits.

I guess you can see the type of man I married!

sashh · 11/10/2018 06:55

Something linked tot he marvel universe? I've seen framed pieces of actual film that look pretty good.

This place does loads of Marvel stuff, from boots to toys to, well you get the idea www.emp.co.uk/men-clothing/shoes/sneakers/

www.lootcaveuk.co.uk/marvel-1?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI18Gt9tb93QIVB4fVCh3aiwbTEAMYAiAAEgI0pfD_BwE cushions in the shape of superheros with LED lights, totally impractical

IWOOT is my go to for difficult to buy for

Thanos gauntlet I actually want this myself and I've not even seen the film

What sort of diet is he on?
Would some boxes of nice protein bars work?
Or a voucher for somewhere like muscle food where he can get himself stacks of protein?
Decent wellies or walking shoes for the days in the park with nice smart wool socks?

OliviaBenson · 11/10/2018 07:05

How about a couple of nights away for you both? Or a voucher for an activity- red letter day type thing?

WerewolfNumber1 · 11/10/2018 07:07

Thanks all some great ideas here!

Waffle maker might be the only gadget we don’t already have! Will have a google about whether I can make them healthy though? I’m gluten free and he worries about his weight so will have to look for recipes.

He has protein powder he likes and doesn’t like the protein bars, he’s really fussy.

Wellies or walking boots are a bit hard to buy for somebody else, what if they’re not a good fit? I could do a sort of homemade voucher to take him shopping - is there anywhere in particular good for boots?

Can’t do nights away, the children are still young and one breastfed so they’d have to come (and then it’s not really a holiday!)

Will look up those prints and the links, thank you!

Spa day for 2?
Somewhere like Champneys could involve gym, massage, nice healthy lunch, napping, reading.
Gadget - dash cams for the car. (I want these),

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 11/10/2018 07:17

Really fancy coffee for his coffee machine?

barnet · 11/10/2018 07:18

Fabulous film inspired tshirts here

One year I bought dh a brush with stand and soap. When he unwrapped them on Christmas Day he looked Confused at me, even a bit Hmm.

By the time he returned to work in the New Year he was hooked. Ever since, he vastly prefers to cream up with his brush kit, rather than a can of shaving foam.

PrincessTwilightStoleMyToddler · 11/10/2018 07:22

More of a little extra than a “main” present but my tricky to buy for DH loved this personalised book. www.notonthehighstreet.com/lucysworld/product/my-dad-personalised-book-for-dad

katmarie · 11/10/2018 07:25

What about something made by/with the kids? Or A photo desk calendar full of family pictures?

OutsSelf · 11/10/2018 07:25

I sent my DB to Secret Cinema. He loves it and has been to every one since. Your DP might have to go alone or with a mate, but it is the absolute business for geeky film types

CaseStudyResearch · 11/10/2018 07:28

Would he be interested in the Ancestry DNA kit?

captainflash · 11/10/2018 09:19

I am a notoriously difficult to buy for person! But, I am a massive Marvel fan and have loved the pieces of artwork I have been given relating to that. I have been given framed comic covers of some of my favourite characters, a box of DC postcards (yes I know they’re DC but there’s 100 in the box and they please me greatly to send them to people) and I have a couple of other pieces of Marvel artwork that my partner found for me.

If someone who loved me gave me a set of the Olly Moss Avengers Pals artwork... I would die with joy. Seriously. Look them up on eBay.
