Do you know where you're spending Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's etc?

OP posts:
Bluebell9 · 09/10/2018 14:25

Yes. We've just made plans for where we are spending Christmas eve and Christmas Day.

Kintan · 09/10/2018 23:27

Yes for Christmas and Boxing Day, butno for NYE..

RuggerHug · 09/10/2018 23:28

Trying to but can't sort anything for a few weeks at least. Can't be helped but still irks me..

Magair · 09/10/2018 23:37

Yup, Xmas Eve we will go to the theatre in the morning then out for lunch. Home for Christmas movies and baking. Christmas Day my parents and brother are coming over at 11 and they are cooking lunch! I am then off to bed about 3pm before going for a night shift on labour ward. Boxing Day I will be sleeping it off then up for some serious prosecco consumption.
I will be off for NYE so probably off to friends.

We alternate between hosting the in laws at ours on Christmas Day and going away to my sister’s from Christmas Eve to 27th.

This year is in law’s year so we will spend Christmas Eve doing last minute bits and pieces, dropping off gifts to a few people and then the evening will be just us, the dog and lots of food and cocktails.

Christmas morning to ourselves, in laws over for lunch and into early evening, not sure yet whether we’ll go to my other sister later in the evening or just collapse in front of the tv with chocolate and baileys.

Boxing Day - tbc. My best friend is thinking of having a little get together.

New Year - gather my sister’s, the one we go to for Christmas alternate years and when we don’t go for Christmas, as this year, she invites us for New Year instead. Long dog walk on New Years Eve in the day, then we all get dressed up to eat chilli, drink homemade cocktails and dance round my sister’s kitchen.

Isadora2007 · 09/10/2018 23:53

Nope

Oliversmumsarmy · 09/10/2018 23:53

Yes.
On a beach

PickAChew · 09/10/2018 23:54

Yep. The usual.

AliasGrape · 09/10/2018 23:54

*gather my sister’s = go to my sister’s, I only have 2 sisters, they don’t generally take that much gathering

BiddyPop · 10/10/2018 08:32

No - except for the fact that we are staying at home this year for Christmas and will travel to family over NY.

I don’t even know yet if dh and I, or one but not both, will work on 24th or take leave. That may partly depend on whether the Christmas swim in our sailing club is on Sunday 23rd or on 24th...and what other plans there are in the 2 offices. Dd can come with either and quite likes coming to mine as we’re in town then for lunch and any final shopping but not in a panic!

BiddyPop · 10/10/2018 08:34

Christmas Day will involve church, possibly a few short calls to extended family locally, cooking a turkey at home.

Boxing Day will be our annual “at home” to extended family and neighbours in the afternoon (mulled wine and nibbles).

The rest, well, we’ll figure that out at some stage - maybe even on those days!😁😁

PoshPenny · 10/10/2018 08:37

We had a plan but I need to discuss changing it with the rest of the family. Due to my mum looking like she's gone into dementia I think it needs to be hosted at her house now. We will do all the hard work still but it will be easier for her if it gets too much

Fevertree · 10/10/2018 08:38

Bits and bobs yes.i will have an 8 week old at the time. We are hosting "Christmas" for both sets of parents, grandparents and siblings on Christmas eve which leaves Christmas day free for us. This thread has reminded me to check what is happening on boxing day/day after, as we usually have a get together with my mums side of the family. NYE we will be at home with a takeaway 🥡 😊

PatchworkElmer · 10/10/2018 08:41

Yes, we’re hosting (takeaway) on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day dinner. New Year’s Eve, DH and I will be at home with DS- New Year’s Day we don’t have planned yet, but I’d imagine that my parents will be cooking a roast.

CherryPavlova · 10/10/2018 08:45

Yes, same as ever.

HRTpatch · 10/10/2018 08:51

Just the 2 of us so we can do what we want.
And it won't involve cooking or spending time with extended family.

Allgoodnamesaregone · 10/10/2018 19:52

Christmas eve...will visit oldest daughter & her children
On Xmas Eve my bf & his son will come to stay - first time they will have stayed over for Xmas.
Xmas a.m. Bf & I will cook dinner. I'll nip out partway through morning to take my middle daughter & her 3 kids to her baby's grave, then they join us for dinner. My parents also come for dinner. At some point in a.m ex fil visits my DD9. Company stays till after tea.
Boxing day DD9 goes to her dad's. My parents come back to me for dinner. Bf & his son staying till after new year.
Sister plus hubby, kids & guide dog arrive 27th & stay till after new year.
New Years eve usually nice meal in our house & charades & silly games. The kids love it but think DD9 going to her dad's this New year, it will be the first new year I haven't spent with her.
Sadly, DS29 moved out in June & isn't speaking to me, I've invited him for Xmas, & already given him present for his upcoming 30th...he took present but still won't speak & has told sisters he won't be coming for Xmas. ...it's gona make this Xmas quite sad.

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/10/2018 20:30

Only where we're spending Christmas day itself. The other bits will fall into place closer to the time.
