You have £50 to buy yourself a gift or several gifts up to the value of £50. What do you get yourself?
(I'm looking for secret Santa ideas and the limit is £50)

Ideas I have had
Now (whatever number we are Upto) CD
Pjs
Slippers
Gin

I would go for decent wine, chocolate and kindle voucher.

JingsMahBucket · 09/10/2018 07:12

Are they supposed to be gag gifts for secret Santa or legit ones?

First thing off the top of my head was the curry subscription I bought my OH from The Spicery last Christmas. I heard about it here on MN and OH really loved it. A 3-month sub costs about £32 I think. If you combine that with a new inexpensive Dutch oven from Lidl or a new cooking spoon, etc that’ll be a nice present to me!

Here’s the link: www.thespicery.com/. Oh, and my OH is vegetarian so I was able to select a subscription that would only send vegetarian or vegan recipes with each month’s curry mix. Just a heads up in case that’s a concern for you.

I hope you get lots of good suggestions. I’m trawlling for ideas for OH myself. :)

im2fat · 09/10/2018 07:19

They should be legit gifts

Kindle voucher is a good idea as is chocolates can't go wrong there.
Curry subscription sounds interesting I'll have a look into that.

Voucher for a massage would be my choice.

JingsMahBucket · 09/10/2018 07:32

@im2fat I just double checked and the 3-month sub is actually £24, so even cheaper. I think what got me was the shipping since I’m not in the UK. Even then the subs arrived in one piece every month and on time. (I have bad mail service here.)

The recipient gets the first box delivered and there’s a code in the box which they can then go online to activate the rest of the sub. OH waited a bit to activate the following two months because he was going on a business trip immediately afterward. It was super convenient.

I swear I’m not a shill, I just love it so much! Grin I’m thinking of getting a sub for myself this year but one that’s meat focused.

Nice leather Purse? I have a great Tula( by radley) one Its lasted for years
Headphones or tech
A watch

agentdaisy · 13/10/2018 16:00

How well do you know the recipient?

Nice wine is a good idea if they like wine, likewise a kindle voucher is good if they like digital books. I can't stand wine and don't like reading books on a screen but a nice bottle of vodka and a book voucher would be a brilliant present.

I'd go for a nice bottle of their favourite alcohol whether that's wine/vodka/gin/whiskey.

Book/kindle voucher.

Favourite chocolates, I'd love anything from the lindt shop and could easily spend £50 in there.

Perfume gift set if you know their favourite.

Amazon/favorite shop voucher.

Jings I'm nicking the curry subscription idea for my wish list this year, it sounds fab.

Angelcd · 13/10/2018 16:58

Make up,perfume would be my choice but depends on what type of person they are if a what they enjoy.yankee candles are always a nice gift to get x

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 13/10/2018 17:05

Honestly- don't buy a load of TAT

Get 1 gift that you know they would like- so the perfume that they use etc.

£50 is too much to throw away on tat that will be binned.

The best way to do a £50 secret santa is that everyone does a list of 3 things exact things- so brand , size, colour etc and the buyer has to chose 1- no deviations.

Almost everything mentioned so far would be a total waste of money for me, for example.

BangingOn · 13/10/2018 18:27

Definitely one nice gift, a lovely version of something you know they like.

GoldenBuns · 13/10/2018 18:43

A Space NK voucher and a bottle of bubbles would make me very happy!

im2fat · 13/10/2018 19:59

Sorry I didn't make it clear I need to write a list. The limit is £50 but what you write on the list has to go over the value of £50 so there is a surprise but I'm lacking ideas.
I like to get something I wouldn't normally buy for my self and the ideas I had where stuff I'd use but I'd also buy for myself.
In the past I've had a slow cooker, earrings, cordless headphones, board games but nothing is catching my eye this yearConfused.
Thanks for the ideas but still not completely sold on any please keep any more ideas coming.

Any of these would rock my world...
Jo Malone candle
Cashmere fingerless gloves (Turtle Dove - saw them discussed on here and have bought a couple of pairs for family, now added a pair to my own wish list!)
Posh (ish) yoga mat
DAB radio for the kitchen
Moka pot
Bottle of Baileys
Crossbody handbag

BangingOn · 13/10/2018 20:42

Ah, I see what you mean.

How about-
L’Occitane almond shower oil
Aromatherapy Associates deep relax bath oil
A silk pillow case
Something beautiful for you home- Rockett St George or Graham and Green usually have a good selection

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 13/10/2018 20:54

I collect Disney and anime merchandise. So I would love a Disney traditions figure, framed picture, nice cushion or fleece blanket (Primark!) for my sofa.

Nice photo frames - asda had lovely glittery ones.

Bag and purse - I like the Ollie and Nic ones. Or I've had a lovely hype backpack. Or nice tote bags for shopping.

Good quality thermal coffee cup. Decent water bottle.

PodgeBod · 13/10/2018 21:00

For me, I would like
Urban Decay Born To Run palette
Chloe perfume
Rodial Dragons blood serum
slipper socks
Tarte pineapple palette
hot air balloon ride

Sorry if that's too personal to be of use but that's my wish list.

EmpressJewel · 13/10/2018 21:58

Bath bomb
Silk mix socks (Arket)
Hair accessories (hair bands etc)
Woolly hat
Wrist warmers

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 13/10/2018 22:13

£50 john lewis gift voucher and just use it at Waitrose.

I can't think of a single thing for £50 or less that I want or need. It is an odd sum of money, too much to waste but not enough to get 1 special item.

AgnesBrownsCat · 13/10/2018 22:51

Perfume , Emma Bridgewater / Nicholas Moss pottery .

mrsdaz · 13/10/2018 23:08

An echo dot

A kitten

Odd socks

Harry Potter studios voucher

Spa day

Theatre trip

Amazon voucher

Gym pass

Food subscription as already mentioned

Nice meal voucher

mrsdaz · 13/10/2018 23:12

Ooh I’d also like a make up session somewhere nice as I haven’t got a clue about make up 😂

RoseMartha · 13/10/2018 23:30

Amazon voucher
bubble bath and face cloth
A casual top or jumper (from Primark or supermarket).
