I need a new one but have been struggling to find what I like the last few years. Apart from dept stores where should I look? Thanks

Garden centres usually have Christmas shops - large ones like squires are very good.

iklboo · 07/10/2018 11:12

Do you mean an artificial one? The garden centres near us do a nice range (as well as the natural ones). Do you have one near you?

batshite1 · 07/10/2018 12:04

Ideally artificial so I can reuse & quite like the idea of pre lit. I didn’t think of garden centres.

I have one from QVC (it is years old , I need to get it out in good time to check it)
Pre-lit and with a timer .

Takes 6-8 of those huge torch batteries .

I set it to light up about 4pm and it goes off at 10pm
( It has twinkling or steady lights , or the option to have without the timer )

They have some beautiful ones on M&S website, lots of different sizes. I'm considering the winterberry one.

M&S
Cox & Cox
Graham & Green
White Company (I wish!)
Next
John Lewis
But the M&S stuff does look nice this year...

I found one but it’s ££££

M&S £35 for extra large

Bellabutterfly2016 · 11/10/2018 21:25

Laura Ashley have some online and so do John Lewis and Debenhams; all these places will have autumn sales/ promotions giving 25% off before long I'm sure!!!

BeaLola · 12/10/2018 00:29

For the last few years I have bought a fresh one from Morrisons - £8/£10 and I change the ribbon on it and add a few of my own baubles and they have looked fab

Christmasplanner · 12/10/2018 07:07

I usually buy a plain fresh one from B&Q and decorate it myself but I'm thinking of going pre lit this year.

Christmasplanner · 20/10/2018 09:25

I've ordered an M&S one, I'll post photos when it arrives.

Christmasplanner · 27/10/2018 16:56

This is the £15 M&S one, it needs fluffing a bit but you get the idea .

Do you tie them onto a high up door knocker? I've only ever seen them with little loops / hooks on, and I like the idea of them but have never known what you attach them to. I only have quite a flimsy letterbox knocker thing so not sure it would work.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/10/2018 17:08

In my previous house I hung mine on a suction hook. My house was at the end of a long drive and the front wasn't visible from the road so I wasn't too concerned about somebody taking a liking to it and pinching it.

I moved this year and this house has a fair bit of passing traffic and the door is visible from the path so I plan to attach it with long ribbons. One at "12" and one at "6" and then pass the "12" ribbon over the top of the door and the "6" ribbon down, through the letterbox and tie the ends together inside the house.

If someone is determined to pinch it then they will have to come armed with scissors.

Christmasplanner · 27/10/2018 17:11

I've got a wreath hanger for the front door (it's on the hook on my bedroom door in the photo) I tie the wreath to the hanger with some garden wire, so it doesn't blow away and it's not easy to pinch.
