Can someone help LOL DOLLS!!!

I know LOL dolls were all the rage last year and thankfully it passed us by.
DD will be 9 soon and she has just discovered them thanks to some annoying YouTube child she has seen opening them 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Question is, is she too old at 9? I suppose she's quite young in some ways, but i don't want to not buy them for that reason as why not. She's had pik mi pops before which I think is the same crappy plastic bullshit kind of thing??? What is the deal with them?
Any help/guidance much appreciated 😊

Maybe get one as a stocking filler? Amazon have 30% off a lot at the moment and they are never normally on offer!

Heismyopendoor · 03/10/2018 22:56

My dd is 10 and still loves them :)

SpoonBlender · 03/10/2018 22:58

Well worth trying to persuade her she's too old for them, I'd say!

sma1978 · 03/10/2018 23:02

I agree, mines nearly 12, and still loves them. I have refused to buy them now. Such expensive trash.

Bumbumtaloo · 03/10/2018 23:06

Honestly if it was me I’d steer her away from them too.

My two DD’s (almost 9 and 6) loved them. But tbh I found it was the opening my two liked more than the actual dolls. This year I’m not getting them any, last year I pre-ordered the pets and also got the glitter ones for their stockings and honestly, with everything else they weren’t even bothered by them. When writing their Christmas lists we must be on at least version 17 now they haven’t been put on them.

I've had a look at them and I can't bring myself to part with that much money for what they are!!!!
As a poster said I may get a small one for a stocking filler.
Jeez I bet the makers are laughing their heads off. 😆
She has a December birthday and struggling to find what she wants. 🙄

I actually think lol dolls are good quality for money. £10 and they're not little crappy hollow things. I think they're cute 🙈

ScarlettJo · 04/10/2018 07:49

The one she had her eye on was £60!!
Such a rip off. I don't mind spending on something that is good value but that is ridiculous. Will get a £10 one and she will just have to be happy.
I had the same disappointment with a mr frosty - not yet quite over it she'll live.

My dd (8) asked for one for her birthday, got her a pet and she plays with it ALL the time. Thought it would be useless and discarded but it was her favourite gift. Watched one of the Pearl ones on camel camel camel to put away for Christmas, and got it for £20 which seemed a bargain if you can get something like that. Otherwise just one as a stocking filler.

Dd6 loves hers and plays with them lots. She doesn't really bother with the accessories, but liked the dolls.

We have been stung twice with the dolls;

Firstly, when we were on holiday in Spain, we bought DD a LOL which was a fake. It was only slightly cheaper than the real ones, but we didn't know it was fake.

Secondly, we bought one in the UK, but it wasn't a doll, it was a puzzle (and it cost £15). I've noticed that sometimes, the packaging isn't clear, so be careful.

My DD is 9 on Monday, and wants a a Biggie Pet. I'm going to try and get one Christmas, but don't like the price, not paying full price because it's a pre-order item!

Bumbumtaloo · 04/10/2018 21:47

1stTimeMama are you checking Amazon? At one point last week they were down to £26 something, I nearly ordered my DD’s one but I’ve actually finished shopping for them and it would have been a case of buying it because it was really cheap.
