Where to buy large Christmas Eve box?

I’m looking for a box big enough to hold a couple of advent calendars and pairs of pjs etc (going to do a dec 1st box) but all the ones I’ve seen are too small! Does anyone know where I can get a larger one that isn’t ridiculously expensive?

We got ours from B&M last year. Also I think the works do cardboard toy/storage boxes which you could use.

I saw some lovely big Christmas Eve boxes that look like treasure chests. but with elves on. They were in a Cherry Lane garden centre, if you have one near you.

MaryandMichael · 01/10/2018 14:00

What use is an advent calendar on Christmas Eve? Sorry if I'm missing the point.

JessDee · 01/10/2018 14:05

Home Bargains are doing one that is plastic & quite large for £3.99 each thought it was a bargain and grabbed a few! Definitely big enough to fit in advent calendars & pjs with plenty space left over!

Galwaygirl · 01/10/2018 14:10

TK Maxx, got them last year there

bellinisurge · 01/10/2018 14:11

I really don't know what a Christmas Eve box is.

HouseyHausey · 01/10/2018 14:13

Asda did some great ones last year. You could add the child's name to the front too. Big enough to fit an Advent calendar in. But Asda not got Christmas things in yet. Not near me anyway.

GummyGoddess · 01/10/2018 14:16

Toy box you could personalise?

sarcasticllama · 01/10/2018 14:17

Old cardboard box + cheap wrapping paper + sellotape/glue = job done.

Flameless · 01/10/2018 14:18

Yes, Lovemusic33. I saw big Christmas boxes in B&M yesterday.

MintyJones · 01/10/2018 14:22

@bellinisurge then why would you comment on a thread asking where to buy one if you don't know what one is?

blacksax · 01/10/2018 14:35

why would you comment on a thread asking where to buy one if you don't know what one is?
Maybe in the hope that someone will be along to explain why people are making such a rod for their own backs with all these Christmas-themed things and whatnot that nobody ever used to bother with at all.

StylishMummy · 01/10/2018 14:53

@blacksax why don't you find another thread to whinge on

Lovemusic33 · 01/10/2018 16:02

blacksax a Christmas Eve box is a box with a few things in it for Christmas Eve, maybe new pj’s (so the kids look nice for photos Christmas morning), hot chocolate for before bed, maybe a nice Christmas book to read before bed or a bath bomb to get them relaxed in hope they sleep? Some people chose to do a 1st of December box with maybe a decoration for the tree as well as some of the above? Not something you are forced to do so if you feel it’s stupid, don’t do it but no need to moan about others who want too.

GummyGoddess · 01/10/2018 16:38

I was considering a 1st December box, probably a big crate with individual sacks in for each child (currently two, maybe a third in a few years). Was thinking advent calendar, pyjamas, paper for Santa letter (not this year, dc1 will only be 2), the horrendous musical Christmas books I hate and a pictorial of the events we're doing (putting up decorations, baking, pantomime, any other outing). Probably will have DH's advent in there too with mine.

I like crafting and I will enjoy putting this together, it's as much for me as for my boys!

sarcasticllama · 01/10/2018 17:20

My dc are adults now, we never did this and I don't remember any of my friends talking about doing a Christmas Eve box - when did this new tradition start? It is a nice idea.

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2693123_c000/toy-shop-chest-christmas-gift-box-40cm-x-29cm-red

I bought this from Matalan last year. It fits a lot in!

MintyJones · 01/10/2018 22:25

@blacksax err you're in the 'Christmas' topic? Where you can expect to find people talking about and getting excited about .... Christmas! If you're bothered by that then why not go and take your miserable posting to another thread?

bellinisurge · 02/10/2018 06:13

I was just commenting that I don't know what one is. More than happy to have it explained to me. If you read it as being snarky, that is it on you.

BlueOooChristmas · 02/10/2018 06:21

Last year TK Maxx had large Christmas boxes. Might be worth a look.

Theseptemberissues · 02/10/2018 07:28

Thanks for all the replies, I’m going on a hunt today! @CocoLoco87 I love the toy chest one!

MintyJones · 02/10/2018 09:20

@bellinisurge but that doesn't explain why you'd comment on a thread asking where to buy one. You'd just scroll past as, well, you can't answer the question.

So the person being snarky, is you

bellinisurge · 02/10/2018 09:50

Oh dear. My sincere apologies for not expressing myself exactly the way you wanted when I asked the question. I'm fed up of numpties asking dumb questions in specialist threads I go on.
I genuinely do not know what one is and I have been enlightened by other less tetchy people on this thread.
Thank you to them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/10/2018 19:57

We do CEH on December 1st now .
Mine will be 19yo and 16yo by Christmas so I don't need to get them bundled off to bed on Christmas Eve or have the 5am wake-up Xmas Grin

DD likes PJs from Victoria Secret Pink so she can wear them all month then into the winter. Last years were grey with snowflakes , very soft , wintery but not Christmassy .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/10/2018 20:00

Anf to answer the question Xmas Blush

TKMaxx / HomeSense have gorgeous boxes.
Last year I got them big bags from eBay .( I have to fit a robe and PJs in there)
