Toy helicopter - playmobil?

I'm thinking of buying the playmobil police helicopter with the torch for my 3yo - does anyone have this and is it robust enough for a 3yo?

If not, is there a brand you would recommend? TIA

We've got the rescue helicopter, and, apart from the rotors falling off every 5 minutes, it's taken a lot of abuse and still looks and works fine.
Except it has no rotors as I lost the plot one day and put them somewhere high and out of the way. I don't remember where Blush

We've got the police helicopter from the Tactical set and it's still going great. Ds got it last Christmas when he was 2 months shy of his 3rd birthday and whilst some of his plays can be quite rough, he's not managed to break any of his playmobil yet (take sets apart yes, but always rebuild-able).

Not sure about the specific helicopter but my eldest brother had a playmobil helicopter in the early 90s, it was his favourite toy for years and it was robust enough not only to withstand all his play but to then be passed down through all of our younger siblings and to still be in a good playable condition for his nieces and nephews now. It’s one of the toys my DD gets out whenever we go to my parents - it’s missing the blades now but otherwise in good condition.

My DD has lots of playmobil (some of it my old stuff from the 90s) and it’s all withstood the test of time. It’s one of the toys I don’t mind spending a bit more on for the brand compared to similar plastic toys because I just know it will last so well.

Ds2 got it for his 4th birthday. He's played with it loads (now 5.5) but he was forever pulling the rotors off and one is now lost.

The torch lasted a nanosecond before it was pulled off and used as a separate torch.

Ds2 is VERY hard on toys though and tries to dismantle everything. (He's the only human I've ever met who's managed to actually break a Lego brick).

Agree with pp - Playmobil is very robust. Ds2 has pulled the wheels off all the trucks and dismantled most things but none of the pieces have ever actually broken.

Playmobil is tough as old boots. Still digging it out of the veg patch too.

@sleepyhead breaking Lego is astonishing! Was it at least one of those really long Technics pieces?

UniversalTruth · 01/10/2018 10:43

@sleepyhead breaking a lego brick! Shock

OK, thanks, I think I will go for it, I always like playmobil stuff. Completely expecting the torch to be lost within minutes but I can live with that

I found an octonaut under the brambles I was cutting back last week so I can also see this happening Grin

It was a flat 10x2 piece - belonging to ds1 so of course the fallout was epic (despite ds1 having many, many pieces that were exactly the same).

I've no idea how he actually did it Confused

I would say the one with the torch has been the best quality out of the multiple playmobile helicopters we seem to have!
I would also recommend the Imaginext police helicopter if its still available anywhere!

BrioLover · 01/10/2018 13:14

We have the police helicopter with the torch - it's three years old now and has held up nicely. I am a big Playmobil fan and my DS (5) plays with stuff I had as a child and it's still in great condition.

UniversalTruth · 01/10/2018 16:43

Thanks all.

@AndWhat I would buy the imaginext one if I could find it anywhere! I don't know why they are only doing Batman theme etc stuff these days

We have the wow toys helicopter. It’s very robust, but may be a bit chunkier than you were looking for.
