Struggling for ideas for 8 year old DS

Every birthday and Christmas I struggle for ideas, where as there always seems to be things my DD (10) wants and plenty of stocking filler bits to go with it.

Am I missing something? What has been a hit with other boys around this age (not lego or outdoor toys)? Or tell me I'm not alone Confused

Maybe you have the same problem as me I have 2 DS also close in age, the older one always asks for things and younger one doesn’t, also things get passed down to the younger one or he has already shared his brothers.
Mine will be 5 and 6 at Christmas.
I’ve got loads of ideas for 6yo but not so many for 5yo.

How about a drone? Does he have any games consoles?

My ds is 8 next week. He's asked for anything airport/aeroplane related (he's obsessed!) and Cluedo. He loves Roald Dahl books. He also loves his Monopoly Empire board game.

My DS is 8 after Christmas. He’d love a Cozmo, more Beast Quest books, anything Star Wars...
I’m going to get him Tom Gates tickets for Christmas or Birthday.

This post on my blog will hopefully help you thetoptoys.blogspot.com/2018/09/present-ideas-for-8-year-old-boys.html

My boys are almost 9 and 6. They get the same presents lol
For christmas they are getting a gaming chair, stunt scooter (halfords have offer on) and maybe a basketball net between them. They also are getting books (roald dahl anf fact books for eldest) and nerf gun and a few new ps4 games (cheap ones).

Hexbug robot wars toys! They are awesome

I'm also struggling with 8(nearly 9yo) DS. He's not massively into 'toys' anymore and I dont want to just get him computer games.

So far I've only come up with a football goal for the back garden, a dragons colouring book and a few more How to Train Your Dragon / 13 story treehouse books & a harry potter duvet set.

These ideas have to do both his November birthday and Xmas - and relatives are also asking me what to get him!

That's really helpful RiceCrispie - love the 3d football stadium puzzle idea!

Ds1 has just turned 8 and I'm Inthe same boat. Everything suggested so far on this thread he either has some version of anyway or isn't interested in it Confused.

I think we must all buy our kids far too much nowadays as there's nothing left to get.

So far I have two sets of books - Time Hunters and series 7 of Beast Quest. I think he'll like a board game of some sort, and some more racing cars, but I have no inspiration for a big present. He had a new tablet for his birthday, a truckload of Lego some from last Christmas still waiting to be built, hexbugs, pogo stick, scooter, bike, model planes, etc, etc,etc...

Pascha · 30/09/2018 09:44

Oh. Some binoculars! That's something I can get both boys each.

SnowOnTheSeine · 30/09/2018 20:29

Mine has had just turned 7.

Biggest hit was an MP3 player plus headphones.

Also the big tub of toy soldiers much to our surprise (he'd stopped playing with toys this summer but is engrossed in his battles)
