Pre teen/young teen stocking fillers

ifiwasabutterfly · 29/09/2018 11:35

Big presents thought of but they still love their Christmas sacks stockings. I am finding it harder to think of ideas of things that they actually want and will use rather than novelty items.

As they get older everything seems to get smaller and triple in price. Am thinking a selection box just for size and a hoody for the same reasons.

I have a standard list of little bits that go into dds stocking, nail varnish remover, cotton wool pads, make up sponges ,packet tissues, face mask packs , orange sticks etc. If she was younger I would also go to Kiko or Accessorise and Tiger for cheap fun make up stuff, glittery trash and led light bits.

Don't forget the sugar mouse and the tangerine, not that DD has ever eaten her stocking tangerine, I just put it back in the fruit bowl every year. Not the same tangerine obviously.

Asj0405 · 29/09/2018 12:18

I would just go with sweets and chocs, bath stuff, stationary, beauty products if for a girl, maybe music voucher or new phone case depending on how much you want to spend. Something for their room? Again don't know if this is for bit or girl but I got some nice bits for my daughter's stocking from new look. Think there was a bracelet reduced to £1 a head wrap thing for £1 a unicorn ornament a frame with some pegs in she could peg some photos of her and her friends/family on for her bedroom wall.

Asj0405 · 29/09/2018 12:20

**if this is for boy or girl not bit or girl

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2018 12:23

My DC always get socks. Have done since they were tiny.

A Toblerone takes up a bit of space too.

Keeptrudging · 29/09/2018 12:27

Slime, rubiks cube/puzzles, things from Hawkins Bazaar (fake snow, rocket balloons, clickwork toys).

reluctantbrit · 29/09/2018 12:44

Bath stuff which I normally wouldn’t buy
Hair accessories or a small jewellery like costume jewellery earrings
New purse
New mobile cover
Best thing last year was a powerbank which is also a chargeable hand warmer. DD keeps them in her pocket in the stable or out with the Scouts plus handy for her phone as it is a hand-me-down with an older battery.

ifiwasabutterfly · 29/09/2018 14:05

Sorry I should have said I have one of each 11 and 14. Powerbanks are definitely a good idea will have a look at Tiger too as I have seen one near us but never been in.

DD is having a hairbrush, body sprays, a couple of sheet face masks a bath bomb, hot cloth cleanser (and new cloths) and then I'll fill it up with chocolate and/or sweets.

Christmasplanner · 29/09/2018 16:11

Oh, and I've bought some pens (She's arty) they will either be stocking fillers or wrapped together as a separate present depending on how full her stocking looks - I've ordered a mini hessian sack from Wowcher which hasn't arrived yet so I'm not sure on size.

ifiwasabutterfly · 29/09/2018 17:04

@Christmasplanner what are hot cloth cleansers?

OP posts:
Christmasplanner · 29/09/2018 17:14

ifiwasabutterfly They’re just a cleanser you take off with a warm muslin cloth, Liz Earle is the big name but Boots No7 and Superdrug do them, quite popular with teen girls because the cloth exfoliates generally.

GreenTulips · 29/09/2018 17:18

Hair stuff - bobbles wax spray
Makeup
Rubix cube
Socks
Cards
Body sprays
Tweezers damn things go missing
Earrings

Not all for the same child!

OatsBeansBarley · 29/09/2018 17:20

I still do stockings for teens.

They still get chocolate coins in too.Plus other sweet treats, a clementine.

Other things have included thin gloves, socks, a pack of cards, mini torch, keyring, mini toiletries, tangleteaser mini brush.

Trialsmum · 29/09/2018 19:59

Ds is 9 but entering that preteen stage. He’ll be getting chocolate, aftershave, hair putty, phone power bank, golden snitch fidget spinner, Harry Potter top trumps, Millions sweets...

Trialsmum · 29/09/2018 20:00

Oh and always socks...

ifiwasabutterfly · 29/09/2018 20:11

Thank you I wouldn't have thought of aftershave and socks, will try and find something a bit different. Am adding lots of these things to my list. I try and do lots of it online but across a few shops to keep postage down.

Someone said new look earlier which looks like a good bet, and I'm going to get some of those hot cloth things.

I struggle with ds the most, he's very sporty and not into Harry Potter or fortnite or anything that has merchandise really Confused

Stopwatch
Bamboo spork for camping!

dementedma · 29/09/2018 20:19

Boxers/pants/socks/gloves bulk out a stocking and are useful
also shower gel/toiletries

Fettuccinecarbonara · 29/09/2018 20:21

Outdoorsy shops have gadgets and drinks bottles that teenage boys will like.
Card games
Shower gels
Undies
Belt
Gloves
Toothbrush
Funky phone/tablet charger

reluctantbrit · 29/09/2018 20:24

I forgot

Audiobooks
Decent key ring or small key purse for toggle to pay at school and locker key
Small torch, DD goes through head torches a lot thanks to Scouting
Does he play rugby or football? Look at a boots buddy
bootbuddy.com

Trialsmum · 29/09/2018 20:33

@dementedma well he doesn’t have obviously 😂 he just sprays (a lot) of it on himself, like perfume... am I thinking of the wrong word for boys’ perfume??

Trialsmum · 29/09/2018 20:33

*shave

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 29/09/2018 21:08

Not very big - but useful is a personalised USB stick- got one on ebay and great for taking in to school. Even dd hasn't managed to lose it yet!

NicoAndTheNiners · 29/09/2018 21:11

Nice shower gel.....got some pumpkin vanilla stuff from body shop for dd today. Lush is also a favourite. Got some cheap gloves from H&M which I’d noticed dd eyeing up.

Chocolate, a book, make up bits.
