I’m looking for ideas for things to do with older teens at Christmas.

Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated!

We usually do ice skating in Hyde Park which they love. Christmas markets are always fun too.

Chocolatecake12 · 26/09/2018 22:36

Watching with interest. It’s hard to get my teen and pre teen interested in anything that’s not gaming or their friends/girlfriend.

Cantchoosenickname · 26/09/2018 22:36

Ohhh I love both of those ideas! Thank you! There’ll be a Christmas market we can go to nearby. I’m going to check for ice skating!

We found that jager bombs were popular with older teens and those over 85 on christmas evening.

Cant beat a bit of cards against humanity.

Soon you'll be able to see if the Coca Cola Christmas truck is stopping near you this year.
Hold a gingerbread house making competition or work together to make a gingerbread village.
Go and see a film. There's a new Grinch coming out this year and another Fantastic Beasts.

Do you mean Christmas day, or around Christmas?
I make my own wreath, so DD is coming foraging with me for holly etc. It’s always a laugh. She never helps with the wreath itself, she just makes a hot chocolate and watches me, giving directives.

I make christmas biscuits, she just likes cutting the shapes, then assembling them together, we natter.

This year I am taking her to a christmas play followed by afternoon tea in a place with a fireplace, according to her, they make good cakes.
It’s a long standing tradition to see a panto, we’re 5 families, we book ‘the children’s seats away from ours.
We have a walk on boxing day and new year’s day we have a walk on the beach, we get fish and chips. The walks are done with her childhood friends, they revert to being 2 and go along with whatever we ask them to do.

Left to their own devices, they won’t do anything but sit on the sofa on their ipads.

I’m looking for ideas for throughout the Christmas period. Generally they’re quite happy just left to potter on Christmas Day.

Not especially christmassy, but we did an escape room last year and they loved it.

Notmethistimehonest · 27/09/2018 13:07

We did the mean santa thing last year, inspired by the thread I8toys has just linked. It went down really well, everybody had a good laugh.

I like the firepit idea too.
