DS has correctly pointed out that DS has tons of little toys - cars, figures, animals etc and so for Christmas wants to get him something that he can play with and that does something, whatever that means. He has no actual ideas!!

So, do you??

He already has a small kitchen, rarely plays with it. Dolls house and rocket ship get played with a bit, certainly doesn't need extra stuff. He has a scooter but has awful balance so plays a little on it. Outside slide. Doesn't like swings.

Love the saxoflute! Magnetic building toys like tegu, playmags or magformers?

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 14:58

He's always putting stuff in his mouth still so I'm wary of magnets although they look cool

If you buy the good brands it’s safe, but understand anxieties! Look up tegu - they look like solid wood blocks, you couldn’t possibjg get a magnet out.!

Train set? My ds is the same age and inherited a Big Jigs one which he adores. He much prefers pushing the trains around even though we do have battery ones and he and dh spend hours building complicated tracks around the playroom, plus you can get so many brilliant different bits and bobs to add to it.

A wobbel? I think I'm going to get ds and dd one as a joint present next year.

A camera? I got ds a VTech Kidizoom Duo Camera for his 2nd birthday to take on holiday with us and he loves it. It's really hardy and seems easy to use. It's great for long car/train/bus/ferry journeys as a distraction.

When I was in Costco the other day they had these: www.costco.co.uk/c/Techno-Gears-Crazy-Train-and-Dizzy-Droid-Construction-Set-2-Pack-6-years/p/2140418 which I thought might be good with supervision/assistance.

Playmag tiles or equivalent are hands down the best present I got my dd. I love building with them too.

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 16:10

I could open a train shop. A book shop with a train shop inside it. No trains lol.

Not sure what a wobble is, will Google

Ooh camera is a cool idea

Ds for his 3rd birthday wanted ‘a helicopter that makes lights and noisy and has a winch’ - his words.

Found one in b&m with spinning rotors and flashing lights, and a motorised winch for £14.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2018 16:45

Or a marble run? Ours both love the marble run - it’s worth getting a better quality one that’s a bit more sturdy

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 16:49

Ooh the helicopter sounds fun!!

He's none verbal so the what do you want doesn't work fortunately / unfortunately??

My son loves his marble run and it also came with a little drain that drives along and leaves a trail of dominos to knock down.

Although maybe he wouldn’t like the train as it moves

Puppet theatre with puppets ?

Lego duplo sets

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 17:30

Haha not if it moves on its own by voodoo power lol

He's got some puppet sets I bought on sale but wasn't sure if he was old enough or if I'd end up doing it all?
