Christmas duvet covers - what a hypocrite I am!

Having always thought they were a daft waste of money, I'm now thinking how nice it'd be to get one for the double bed little Gdcs will be sharing when they come to stay for Christmas!

Where is best to look? Presumably best to look earlier than later.

I got ours from asda. Not too pricey, they already have some online as do Matalan

bimbobaggins · 22/09/2018 18:39

Amazon do reasonably priced ones too but I’d also second asda

Shufflebumnessie · 22/09/2018 21:44

I was exactly the same but then we moved house and for some reason I relented and bought one. I love the look on my DS face when he gets home from school and sees his christmas bedding (& a few other bits) have been put out!

Anyway, back to your question.....I bought ours from Amazon - there are lots to choose from. I've also seen nice ones in Matalan and Asda (as mentioned by a previous poster). I know that Next do some but I think they can be a bit more expensive.

melissasummerfield · 22/09/2018 21:51

Studio do personalised ones... ive got them and i dont care Wink

sophisticatedsarcasm · 22/09/2018 22:26

We got ours personalised ones from studio 2 years ago. They love it. Only cost 9.99 each. We brought some adult Christmas duvets last year for a bargain of £4.99. Don’t mind at that price.

lauryloo · 22/09/2018 22:30

I got a lovely brushed cotton one from Asda last year

Fstar · 22/09/2018 22:36

Asda, primark or matalan have good ones. Think next also gave The Snowman one

DandelionAndBedrock · 22/09/2018 22:47

How Christmassy do you want? The Matalan AlderHey theme this year is colourful stars, and they do a double duvet cover and matching pyjamas. Definitely don’t scream “Christmas” (though they do other styles too).

InterstellarSleepingElla · 22/09/2018 22:52

On the back of this thread I have just bought Christmas Duvets for us all. Damnit! I didn't even think I wanted Christmas bedding! I got a king size, a double and a toddler bed for £50 on eBay (free postage on all of them). Only the toddler bed one is totally gaudy, the other two are a little more restrained! 😂

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 22/09/2018 23:24

Mil bought us some lovely brushed cotton ones in the Wilko sale last year. More winter than Christmas but lovely, think tartan style, white with grey reindeers. Definitely worth checking.

HalloumiGus · 22/09/2018 23:37

What is Studio? Is it an online shop? I want personalised Xmas duvets!

Bumbumtaloo · 22/09/2018 23:42

HalloumiGus yes, it’s online.

I have a brushed cotton more winter than Christmas duvet, I am tempted to get all out Christmas ones though!

HalloumiGus · 23/09/2018 00:12

Thank you!

fraggle84 · 23/09/2018 08:57

Matalan and also their £5 Xmas blankets are lovely

fieryginger · 23/09/2018 09:11

George at Asda do a great range of Christmas duvets at very reasonable prices, closer to the time. I actually got 3 different Christmas doubles for a fiver each. There's an Elf one up at the moment. Closer to Christmas they have a wide range a single is usually £10, a double £12.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/09/2018 09:14

Matalan have one online that is The Snowman (really lovely but only in a single Xmas Sad )

flowerpotmike · 23/09/2018 15:59

I've just done exactly the same thing. Always thought they were excessive. I've just ordered one each for the children as well as fleece blankets from Matalan. I don't know what's come over me, I've always loved Christmas but I seem to be ramping it up this year. I resisted the toilet seat covers but I might break yet.

WellTidy · 23/09/2018 16:55

NExt, Matalan and wilko all do lovely ones that are very reasonably priced. Matalan do lovely matching fleecy blankets for about £6 which are lovely for snuggling with a Christmas film and a drink.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/09/2018 17:05

The Matalan blankets are lovely!

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 23/09/2018 17:10

I've got a M&S one from last year, but I use it all year round.

It's printed to look like red, white and green knitting.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/09/2018 19:52

I was talking to DD ( 16) today about Christmas bedding Xmas Grin

She has a fleece blanket from Lakeland from when she was a baby (DS also has one) they come out every year. They were ££ but have lasted well. (Father Christmas climbing down a chimney and a huge Christmas Teddy Bear pictures)

I've had cushion covers and throws from Dunelm , Primark ,Matalan.

Some of the cheapie ones get recycled to the guinea-pigs , to cover their cages indoors. (Well even little rodents need to be festive !)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/09/2018 22:55

Thanks, all - I actually found a lovely one, v reasonable, online. And thanks for the Matalan blanket idea - lovely to get one of those each for Gdcs, they do like snuggling under a blanket.

I got one in Penneys (Primark) which was not expensive, for DD a few years back. It comes out in early December, gets washed and put back on a couple of times, and put away with the tree in early January. So it is probably down to having cost me €5 or less per year at this stage, in terms of how much it has been used.

If you are any good with a sewing machine, you may find festive fleece designs in a fabric shop for far less and just sew a hem around the edges of a piece to make festive throws/blankets yourself. And fleece really only needs very very basic sewing and care.

Mitsouko67 · 25/09/2018 18:44

I recommend brushed cotton winter themes checks reindeer Nordic etc that way you can use them through January rather than putting away with the decorations.

Johndoe10 · 25/09/2018 18:46

Asda do lovely cosy brushed Cotten ones 😍
