Hi everyone - I suppose I could have said this a week or so ago, but today I REALLY felt like Christmas was on our shoulder when I popped into Home Bargains! There was a full isle (both sides) FULL of their Xmas stuff, plus another isle full of festive gifts!

I’ve noticed more this year that Halloween stuff gets put out at the same time as the Christmas items but I’d go a tad further and say some stores have MORE festive items than Halloween!

I love this run-in period - and I’m now nailing down Christmas Market dates around our area because we love to go for a wander around things like that - even if we don’t buy anything.

We currently have our house for sale and I’d love to be in somewhere new for Crimbo - in fact when I’m looking at houses I’m thinking where we could put our tree and other Christmas decs!

We’ve saved hard for Christmas this year - the present costs are about covered but this year I’d like to get out on a few family meals and sample some festive menus around Nov/Dec time!

We normally put Christmas lights and trinkets up towards the end of October - and truth be told we have at least one tree up by Halloween!

I’m getting SO excited now - and it’s nice the weather is changing because I love dark nights sat in front of the tv watching every Christmas film I can with a nice apple-cinnamon candle burning away while the fairy lights are twinkling! Heaven! Especially with a glass or two of mulled wine! 🎄🎄🎄

I used to, years ago, when Christmas started in late November

These days I’m sick of the bloody sight of it all long before it should actually have been introduced in the first place.
It’s not Halloween for another six weeks!

tobee · 20/09/2018 16:45

They've already got loads of kids' toys ads on tv which will only ramp up and morph into Christmas ones

Rarfy · 20/09/2018 16:45

I love it! Got rather excited today seeing next had their Christmas decorations in!

I can see why people get sick of it tbh but for me i'm crap at saving so like to spread the Christmas shopping over a few months so it really suits me.

blacksmiths09 · 20/09/2018 16:48

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar - you ARE aware this is the Christmas section on here? 🤔

Sorry, I actually missed that. 🎅🏻🎄
I’ll stay off your thread until November Wink

bimbobaggins · 21/09/2018 14:51

I love it too, I get very excited, especially when the Christmas gift guides start appearing instore. My problem is I usually start buying then see better stuff and want to buy that too. I’m trying to be a bit more restrained this year. It’s not easy

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 21/09/2018 14:57

You don't have to live Christmas to be on s Christmas thread in the Christmas topic

It's way too early

But we can sell through all last years yay first before bringing out the new stuff ....

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/09/2018 15:08

I was starting to feel the "Oh, it's getting near" vibes , the leaves are turning and falling .
Conkers.

But , buying things too early invites the Other Christmas Visitor.

I love seeing Xmas things.
I work in a shop that goes Xmas crazy in September. The amount of decorations I have sold already is amazing. 😁

Newkitchenideas1 · 22/09/2018 08:27

I love seeing them too, i went to next during the week expecting to see their x mas bits but was severely dissapointed when it wasnt on display! I think the sudde turn in weather made me feel christmassy Grin

starryeyedsnowgirl · 22/09/2018 08:46

I like seeing things appear (though even I raised an eyebrow to see dobbies Christmas section in august!). I also like seeing fresh things arrive like the food as usually it means it getting closer (though again- m and s now has some fresh food in with holly leaves etc on it- maybe a little too soon).

Sadly I also get excited when the best before dates get closer to Christmas so when I finally see milk with an expiry date of Christmas Day I know we are really nearly there. I am so sad...

blacksmiths09 · 22/09/2018 10:58

I actually get depressed about 2 weeks away from Christmas because I know the festive season is at its peak everywhere but I realise it’s nearly all over. If I could relive the same day over and over like Groundhog Day it would be Christmas Eve believe it or not - NOT Christmas Day! Is that wierd? I often find the actual day a bit of a let-down hence why I love the build up more!

I do LOVE Christmas dinner though - 🎄

I love seeing all the Christmas bits in the shops now, and making craft sort of things "to get ready". I get a cosy feeling. But when I was a child, it seemed you could only get Christmas food and decorations etc at the beginning of December/end of November, and it was just more exciting. When things started appearing in the shops, you knew you were on a countdown to the Big Day! But now it's all so far in advance. That said, it helps people to budget and spread the cost of Christmas (for me too).

BaconAndAvocado · 22/09/2018 11:43

Love it too.

Went to Matalan yesterday , some of their decorations are just gorgeous.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/09/2018 11:44

blacksmith I totally agree! Christmas Eve is the best!!!

blacksmiths09 · 27/09/2018 11:36

Oh my. I thought I’d pop into The Range in Darlington this morning to see if they had any crimbo stuff out?

It was fantastic! They have almost everything out already! There were a few isles that were getting stocked as I walked around - with about 5 staff opening mountains of boxes to fill the empty shelves. I reckon by Saturday it will all be done!

I need to go back when I have more time for a good long mooch! 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Yes, I too visited the Range a few days ago.........Christmas heaven Grin

When the alcohol licence appears, sellotaped to the window at Boots, that's whwn you know, shit's got real.

Zoella's back. Only marginally less expensive than last year.

£14 for a fucking planner with some stickers??! 😱

I love to see Christmas stuff begin to appear in the shops!

Me too OP I LOVE CHRISTMAS and I am starting to spy more and more little bits in shops ...just gets me so excited. First Christmas as a mum too so I'm probably going to explode with excitement!!

BaconAndAvocado · 28/09/2018 17:30

Is the Boots christmas catalogue out yet?!?!?!

user232398291 · 28/09/2018 17:32

Me too.

Winter would be unrelieved grimness for me if it weren't for Christmas. I get seasonal affective disorder, so the thought of Christmas cheer really helps. That and my lightbox!

blacksmiths09 · 28/09/2018 20:24

I’ve actually been pestering Dalton Park and The Metro Centre via Facebook messenger today asking if many of their shops have Xmas stuff out yet? 😂

I also keep checking the Argos app - I type “Christmas” into the search box and see how many items come up? Today has jumped from 30 to 109!! Wahoo!

I braved IKEA today , they were setting up the Christmas area , lots of shelves tantalisingly stocked with Christmas decorations and paper , just out-of-reach behind the barriers they put up Xmas Shock

Their Christmas shop opens IIRC on the 29th .

I was torn between schreeching Let.Me.In and tutting "It;s still September" so they couldn't see the longing in my face .

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2018 08:26

John Lewis Liverpool has their Christmas shop open now. Some interesting themes this year! Blue fish tree decoration, anyone?!

Newkitchenideas1 · 29/09/2018 08:36
